I'm fairly certain there's no thread for this - I searched but may have missed it, so yes.
Anyway! 'Sup, my favorite television show in the whole entire world forevah and evah? I know that it can get a bit much, and I know that Angela was whiny and said 'like' too much, and I know that Danielle served absolutely no purpose, but as amazingly cheesy as it sounds, MSCL is just.. special to me. I wasn't a teenager when it originally aired, but I was fifteen or so when I got the DVD box set, and it's just been so true to life. It's also been really comforting to me, oddly enough, being able to watch the show as I was going through some of the exact same situations as the characters were.
Anyway!
I love seeing the non-famous (well, not as famous as Claire Danes and Jared Leto, anyway) cast members on current tv shows. I was just flipping through channels, stopped on Boston Legal or something similar, and what do you know! It's Mr. Katimski! He looks exactly the same.

Yep. Twelve years later, and I'm still pissed they cancelled it.

I was addicted to this show. I loved how real some of the high school stuff was. Especially Angela. She wasn't popular but she wasn't a nerd. Her friends had issues (especially Rayanne) but they weren't bad kids. I loved how they dealt with the Sharon/Angela friendship.
Brian Krakow was such a nerd. He drove me crazy.
Anyway, this show is the reason why I still love Jared Leto (even though he's greasy and has slept with Lindsey Lohan) and frequently accidentally refer to him as Jordan Catallano.

I watched this show a handful of times, but enough times for "like" to infiltrate my vocabulary like never before...I haven't broken that habit yet.

Gah! I loved this show! We used to watch it in law school. I still have on tape the episode where Jordan crosses the hall and grabs Angela's hand, and Buffalo Tom is playing...aww, we went all fan-girly.
I can't remember...did we ever see the famous Tino?
And I think it's bizarre that AJ Langer is going to be a countess when her father in law passes (didn't she marry the son of the Earl of Devon?). It just makes me laugh to think of Rayanne as lady of the manor...

He'll always be Jordan Catallano to me. Never just Jordan, though. It's got to be the full name: Jordan Catallano. Oddly enough I was thinking about this show and Jordan Catallano just last night for some reason.
I think I was in my mid 20s by the time this show came out, but I still enjoyed it. Even my dad watched it. When I colored my hair purple, he took to calling me "My So-Called Daughter".

Oh, me too. It was so true to life, although I never got nearly as close to my real-life Jordan Catalano as Angela did. But it just seemed so real. I was 15 when it came out, and it really hit home with me. I had my real-life Brian Krakow too, the guy who always crushed on me but was a hopeless nerd. People even nicknamed him "Krakow" at school, which was funny. We became really good friends after graduation. He was a good guy. I probably should have dated him, but I was too busy crushing on the hard-to-get guys.
A few Christmases ago, the boy gave me the DVD boxed set. We weren't dating yet, but I knew then that he was a keeper.
OT: I saw my real-life Jordan about a year ago -- what a let down! He'd become so ... normal. He was in grad school (!) and there was no more long-ish hair and slacker attitude. He'd become a responsible adult. It totally shattered my illusions about him. But it was funny, because it made me think, "I'll bet that's how Jordan ended up, just a regular guy." That's how real those characters were to me.

Oh yes, thanks to myspace I've been able to cybe-stalk all of my Jordan Catalano's. They've all gotten quite puffy and old looking. As have I but still . . .

This show absolutely defined my whole ninth-grade year. My friends and I did everything we could to look, talk and dress like Angela. I haven't seen the show in years, and I'm starting to think I need to get the DVDs. I can imagine watching them would be bittersweet.
