Canada's Next Top Model starts tomorrow. Now, we have cranked out our share of genuine top models (like our lovely host, Tricia Helfer). Can we crank out models to the "standards" of the original? Heck, is anybody else even going to watch?

I will watch, and probably hate myself for it! Canadian television shows never have the budget to do anything really exotic so I'm wondering if the models will get to take a trip like they do on ANTM. Maybe they will fly from Toronto to Vancouver or something. I'm sure the whole thing will be really corny. But really, in a way, I like that Canadian t.v. is so corny and cheap. All the razzle dazzle sponsored-by-Pepsi flashy stuff on most reality "talent" shows gets annoying sometimes. (Looking at you, A.I.)
I hear Jay Manuel is Canadian and thus will be making at least one guest spot on CNTM. I never even knew he was from Canada until last week.
I don't know much about Tricia Helfer, but I think she's prettier than Tyra. Hopefully she's got a less holier-than-thou attitude, too.

I just learned Jay was Canuck too. That was a surprise. All the way from Mississauga to Tyra-land. Gotta wonder what that transition was like.
Anyway, I have to watch this because Jeanne Beker is judging. I've watched her from her earliest days back with JD Roberts and before MuchMusic. So I have to watch. It's going to be a trainwreck but there's nothing else on anyway so why not.

We never get Canadian shows in America unless it's they are comedy. I guess I'm going to have to bittorrent it.

I will totally be watching this. And damn, you'd think with half of them being from B.C. I'd know at least one, but nope. Sigh. I was hoping that one of my high school nemeses would get in a catfight or end up looking like Jade from ANTM.
And damn, Natalie and Andrea are ugly. Sylvie looks like she belongs in porn. Ylenia looks ooold, and does Tenika have a moustache, or is it just a shadow?

And they're off!
I was stunned at the house. I was expecting something far more downscale, but I guess Proctor and Gamble coughed up some cash. Nice to see Jay hasn't lost his product-shilling skills, though!
I was going to discuss the loser, but will hold off, since the West Coasters haven't seen it yet. (Then again, I missed some of the judging discussion, so I'm still baffled at who went. I thought it was obvious who should leave, and she didn't.)

That was the worst thing I have ever watched. I cringed through the entire thing. Having said that, I will not miss an episode.

I just learned today that it was shot entirely in Victoria. Yay! I think. It's just starting here.
Okay, I can already tell that the most fun for me is going to be location-spotting.
Brentwood Bay! The Parliament Buildings! The Empress! My parents have stayed there, and my boyfriend's company's Christmas parties are in the attached conference centre! I've also used the Empress's downstairs bathroom. AWESOME. Hey, Fan Tan Alley! I went there with my mum a few weeks ago. Best show ever!
...What, you mean this isn't about me? Aw.
Is it bad that I don't know who Tricia Helfer (sp?) is?

I didn't watch, 'cause liek, I don't watch Canadian shows. I just don't like them, with few exceptions. Now that I've seen the women on it, I definitely won't watch. Most of them just look average woman-walking-down-Yonge-pretty, ya know? They seem nice looking and put together, but nothing really pops.
Heather looks very pretty in the photos, but Andrea? Ew. I'm sorry, I can't help being shallow when it comes to people on reality TV, especially when they want to be models. Some of my skinny, tall cousins should have tried out for this thing. Of course, since they aren't drama queens, they never would have made it onto the show.

My sister wants to be on this show. She's pretty short though, but she has a friend who should totally go for it. A few friends, actually. I agree that none of the girls are exceptional; I can see some like them every day. But ehh, like I said, the establishing shots of Victoria are making my day!
ETA: I'm surprised; I'd have thought either Sisi or the whiny homesick one would have gotten kicked off. Sylvie annoyed me, but you'd think she'd have been good for drama, or at least bitching.
