I really liked D'Angelo too. I thought the season with the dead women in the freight container was excellent.

MrSukie and I just started watching this too. We are watching OnDemand and just finished Season 3. It is soooo good, one of the best shows I have ever seen, probably the best. We can't wait until Season 4 starts, which should be in another couple of weeks.

I have one more disc to go in season one and so far this show is BRILLIANT. Thank God we were spared seeing Brandon being tortured and killed.
There has not been a single episode or scene where I have drifted off or lost a little interest. Just one fantastic episode after another.
I cannot imagine that it can get even better then this. How is it even possible? But I can't wait to see. I just turned in two discs and I have one coming today. So for me I'll be starting season two on Tuesday night.
I was reading through TWOP and I hear season four is superb. God, I can't wait.
And I think McNulty is hot. I can't help it. Drunk or sober. It doesn't matter.

I'm envious that you get to experience The Wire for the first time. I remember loving season 2, but then season 4 just blew me away. I don't think any television show affected me as much as season 4.

We started watching The Wire a few months ago, and we've been hooked ever since. The series finale will be here today, and I can't believe there will be no more to watch! Although I will be able to go back to the beginning of the thread and read the whole thing without being spoiled.
And yes, Season 4 is outstanding, although it kept me up at night.

I'm getting a kick out of the number of times Dominic West's British accent slips out. It's hysterical. But it doesn't distract me at all in a negative way though. I wonder if there was an "accent slip" drinking game during the original airing.
Idris Elba did an outstanding job keeping his under wraps though. But they are both superb on this show though. Hell, everybody on this show is good.
Kima looks and sounds just like Angela Bassett.

That's who she reminds me of! Thanks, kathy1977. It has been driving me crazy and I could not put my finger on why she was so familiar. That is it.
I love McNulty too, he is such a detriment to himself, but is so fine & goofy doing it.

Great to all the people enjoying The Wire! I adored season 4 as well. I think there was a year and a half wait between seasons 3 and 4, it may have been two years.

I remember thinking season 2 was awfully slow when I first watched, but in retrospect I enjoyed it as just another chapter in the story. I had no idea Idris Elba was British when this show first started. Once I found out I remember hunting down interviews where he used his accent because I thought he was American. It was also where my crush on him blossomed to possibly unhealthy levels.

Just finished season one. Oh, Wallace, you should have stayed where you was at. His death broke my damn heart. All this season I just wanted to give him a big hug. He was just a baby. And D'Angelo . Damn, 20 years. That's most of his life gone right there. Drives me crazy to see these young, INTELLIGENT black men end up like this. But it's too real. Boys like D'Angelo could become whatever they want. Lawyers, doctors, record execs. But this is how too many end up. Damn shame. On to season two!!!!
