I'm sorry Plush. I figured since it aired so long ago that I didn't need to spoiler. At least you get three seasons to enjoy the beauty of Elba.
I think Dominic West too is hot in a simian way. The only thing that ruins it is that I saw him in Rock Star with a wig from hell and I can't wipe the image from my brain.
I am reading the book The Corner currently and it is brilliant. There was also an HBO mini-series of it I believe. I am going to look on Netflix and see if it is there.

I figured they'd be dead one day. I saw the trailer for The Corner in one of the dvds for The Wire but I've never seen it. I was talking about the book that David Simon wrote: Homicide: A year on the Killing Streets. I wonder if anyone read it.

I've read Homicide multiple times, and have bought it as a gift for a friend. (Who was interested in that kind of thing.) I've also read The Corner and seen the HBO adaptation, which I found extremely bleak.
You know those t-shirts (or something) that say "Joss Whedon is my master". Sub "David Simon" and I would buy it. I (and my dad) wish he would write another book, but he seems to have moved to TV production instead. [/David Simon fangirl]

Just a heads up. The first episode of the final (sniff sniff) season is up On Demand. Won't spoil it, will only say that once again The Wire proves it is the best damn show on television.

Really? I know what I'm watching when I get home from work. I refreshed myself with S4 this weekend in preparation for the new season. Brilliant show. Just plain brilliant.

Ooh, I can't wait! The stupid powers that be don't screen The Wire here anymore so I have to resort to other means. This is the best show ever and Season 4 was just wow. And how much did it make you want to turn into Angelina Jolie and adopt all those little boys? Dukwan, Randy, Michael, Bug ... poor little things. And how frackin' scary was Felicia? It took me about half the season to figure out that she was a girl!

The actress who plays her now has a memoir out, btw. I saw it in B&N this weekend.

And apparently there was an article in The New Yorker about her and the series too.

I actually caught on right away that Snoop was a girl although her accent did throw me a bit. I also seem to remember her wearing a pink helmet in a scene where she was on the back of Chris's motorcycle. For some reason that cracked me up. I don't know why but I just love Snoop. Read Felicia's autobiography as well and I really do recommend it. I am so rooting for her. We had some similar experiences growing up and I know I very well could have ended up in prison like her. Glad she has been given a second chance and seems to be taking good advantage of it. And I so agree with you about wanting to adopt the kids. Particularly Dukie & Randy. Those two broke my heart.

The show just has such strong writing and the characters are so well developed. What am I going to watch when it's over? Wah!
Mr Y loves Bunk - his drawl, his dancing, his drinking, his snide remarks. The bit when Bunk watched McNulty leave the room and said "look at that bow legged motherfucker. I made him walk like that!" had Mr Y in stitches for about a week!
ETA: re Felicia. The voice was what made me first think she was a girl but then I didn't think that a group of male thugs like that would let a girl help with such an "important" job. I would have liked to have known a bit more about her. We got snippets of info - like that she should have been at school with Randy and the others - but it would have been interesting to know how she got into that situation.
