I love this show so much it hurts to know that the writers and actors don't seem to get any love, eg no emmy noms. And season 4. Herc's "Unfuck me Carve, unfuck me now." ...I just love this show.

I went ahead and started to rewatch from the begining and it just breaks my heart the show is ending. Now there have been many shows I have loved, lost and mourned, but this one is the most special of all. I know it is said over and over again, but it really is the greatest tv show of all time. And the casting is just beyond brilliant. There is not one single actor who I felt was wrong for the character. God I am going to miss this show. And I cannot wait to get home and watch episode 2 on Demand. The first thing I did this morning was make sure it was available.

I'm making my way through S2 now and can't wait to get all caught up. Clark Johnson is in S5 and I am so looking forward to that! (He was Meldrick Lewis in Homicide and directed the pilot for Wire)

Does anyone know why Dominic West want a break from the show season 4? I know he was not on as much but I thought it was due to the storyline.

Thank you. Because I was reading an article about the new season and David Simon said he asked for time off the show. I thought he was tired of doing the show. I did not know he was doing movies instead.

I thought it worked quite well side-lining McNulty for a season. He was never my favourite character so I didn't miss him too much but the way they set up the idea that he wanted to go back to the street to get away from all the politicking and crap of being out of uniform was an interesting side plot. I also liked that they sobered him up.
I just re-watched the end of season three and, lo and behold, there was Chris and Snoop with Marlo (Marlowe?). The writers are so clever! They set up all these stories without having to go the NYPD Blue-hit-you-in-your-face-this-is-the-new-storyline route.
Best show on television.

I was going to put this in the Celebs In Your Dreams thread, but figured why not do it here. I had a weird dream last night that I was trying to break Snoop out of prison, which was actually my jr. high school, and I think she was my girlfriend in the dream. I finally busted her out and we rode out of the parking lot on a scooter. I don't remember anything after that but it was a pretty funny dream.

I've had dreams about Stringer Bell ... but that should probably go in the TMI thread!
