Apparently, ABC's fall schedule is chockful of Brit-to-American remakes, including this and Life on Mars. I've never seen the original and I *want* to hate it on principle but -

It's starring Three/Xena/Lucy Lawless. And Gabrielle Union, who I still think is underserved by Hollywood.

And in the "who knew he was still alive" category, James Van Der Beek.

It looks like Bryan Singer is directing the pilot, at least. Last show he directed the pilot of was House. So...

It's early to start a thread but I know there's a ton of the UK series fans here, so I thought I'd begin the discussion...

I loved FW, saw all three seasons recently from Netflix. If they do it right, it will be a hit.

And Lucy Lawless?? Seriously? Who is she playing, Hazel's character? Because I can't imagine her as any of the wives.

I would think Lucy would be Tanya. I bet she'd be an excellent Tanya.

And Fivehead in another football player role, huh?

Oh God, Lucy is playing Tanya. I don't know, I can't see it. I am so scared for this project.

IMDB page: Eddie Cibrian as Jason (okay, maybe), Ving Rhames as Frank (which actually might be awesome). Okay, if the Beek isn't Kyle, then who the hell is he playing? If they make him Conrad, I'm going to puke. It says Holly Robinson Peete has signed on too, but there's no role listed.

I wonder who will play Harley and Shannon. I think someone like Anna Faris would be a good choice for Shannon.

eta: I just read that Holly Robinson Peete is playing Jackie, and the Beek is Ian. Ooooooooooookay. And that Arielle Kebbel person (sadly, I recognize her as the daughter from Soul Plane) is playing Shannon, I think.

Lurved the UK series don't think I'll dig the US version. The cast does not sound interesting to me. Anna Faris would be a great Shannon ITA! The other actors rumored- eh...not so much IMO.

I hope they do it right but it seems like part of a choreographed series of events to bombard Americans with football - uh I mean soccer. Beckham and Poshie will be in LA then, Becks will be filming the spots in the movie he just signed on for and now a series on the sport. Wait until Landon Donovan's gf starts pimping her show at red carpets- ugh. I think they should have waited or picked super hot no names to do the show. Maybe it would be more successful if they do a US version of FW's but do it around American Football. That would be a cash cow I think.
