Did her slapping him seem totally out of the blue? I was all...where the hell did that come from? They have a lot of chemistry together but this back and forth is getting to be too much.

I thought it was kind of out of the blue (man, she really hit him), but then again, in the early seasons (mostly just S1 and S2), we saw behavior like that from Bones a lot -- so I kind of thought it was a nice callback to how the character used to behave (and a way to illustrate her character development). I can think of several early eps (including the pilot) where Bones got physical with someone -- usually it was hitting a suspect or someone who had threatened her.

In her very first scene in the Pilot she beats up a Homeland Security agent when he touched her arm at the airport. Casual violence like that from her was fairly common early on.

Okay. I've not seen the first season just bits and pieces of the 2nd and on...I have to say that I'm glad that they toned that down with her character.

Yeah, I'm glad, too. I think it was supposed to be one of the cues to the audience that Bones doesn't really relate to "normal people"/follow normal standards of behavior, but it seemed far-fetched to me -- someone of her intelligence would figure out that even if she saw nothing wrong with it, other people found it unacceptable. That, and the "hit first, ask questions later" persona doesn't fit in with Bones' characterization of being all about logic and reason. I did like when she poked that voodoo guy in the eye after he started threatening her/chanting (can't remember if that was S1 or S2). It was just funny.
I'm also glad they stopped having her say, "I don't know what that means" at least five times an episode.

I'm also glad they stopped having her say, "I don't know what that means" at least five times an episode. That was so annoying, that they'd have to pause to explain basic cultural references to her. They really have toned her down considerably. Even her whole "religion is irrational and there is no God" stuff isn't quite as annoying as it once was.

I watched the last episode. Wow. Like others, I enjoyed their talk. The back and forth is getting ridiculous, but I have a feeling they'll get together next season. Obviously Bones will need to make the next move and deal with her intimacy/abandonment issues. I'm not opposed to a coupling as long as the show keeps its spark.

I saw the episode where they went to Brennan's reunion. I compared it to the Las Vegas show where they pretended to be together and found the reunion episode wanting. Vegas was fun and flirty and there was spark there. I didn't see any of that at the reunion show. Maybe this is an example of Booth moving on and distancing himself from the relationship. I just found the whole episode very flat.

I thought of the Vegas ep, too, and that one was way more fun.
However, I did enjoy Freddy Kreuger's appearance. I laughed out loud when I recognized Robert Englund. I loved how he would just keep creepily appearing, freaking Booth the hell out, while Bones was all thrilled to see him.

Shanmac, I really enjoyed that aspect of the episode as well and how thrilled he was to have had her name her first serial killer after him.
