No, no bra. And her favorite thing through most of the late 70s-early 80s was that fucking zipper-up nightgown bathrobe thingie that Ann Romano always wore. My mom had one of them...no, wait, I think she actually had two. Memorialized for all eternity in many a Christmas morning picture.

I think the show ended with Ann marrying Dr. Johnny Fever and moving to London (or Paris?) I don't remember what happened to Barbara - they had a "very special episode" where she found out she couldn't have children, so I guess it didn't end with her pregnant - maybe she and the dentist adopted?

Didn't like the show much and I share the Bonnie Franklin hate. I was barely a teen when the show started and am still a little scarred from hearing Ms (ugh! HATED how they were always beating us about the head and face with the fact that she was.....GASP! a feminist! and apparently, the first, last, and only one...ever. So very heavy-handed) Franklin on a talk show (Dinah Shore, maybe?) discussing her sex life. She went on forever about how loud she was during sex. Shared a charming (and probably wholly fictitious) story of how her neighbor lady had come knocking at her door because she feared Mizzzzz F. was being murdered during one particularly "vocal" session.
Ack! I have trouble remembering where my I put my keys most days but I still remember that bit of ugliness over thirty years later. Still haven't figured out exactly why anyone would be having sex, loud or otherwise, with that woman.

I hated the character of Alex, but I really enjoyed that interview with Glenn Scarpelli. He was always so awkward looking and gawky on that show, but he's a hottie now!
I never liked Bonnie Franklin either. She was always portrayed as this hot, gorgeous babe of a woman and even as a child I always thought she was... not ugly, exactly, maybe pushy? Loud? Shrill? Trying too hard? It's hard to pin down, but she made me nervous and on the shows where they would show her sex life (like in bed, nude shoulders showing) talking about sex, they always made me shudder. Physically shudder with revulsion.
It's weird that others disliked her as well because had I ever given it any thought, I would have thought she was well-liked. She certainly made the rounds of the talk shows often enough back then!
I thought Julie was well-written and much more interesting than Barbara. Julie was a slut, she was a druggie, she yelled at her mom, she married on a whim, she was a bad mother... wow, what a great character to play! Not a nice character at all. I know that they had to write her out a lot because of her real life drug abuse, but it WORKED.
I always wanted to grow up and look like Valerie Bertinelli. Ha. That didn't really happen... Poor Mackenzie. SHe was so plain next to Valerie. Did they ever address this on the show? It seems like something they could have written a very special episode about. Julie's insecurities about being ugly. It's the kind of thing the seventies were PERFECT for!

I cant stand Bonny Franklin either and even as a kid I thought she was a horrible actress. Apparently she has won awards for her work in the theatre, maybe she just couldnt make the transition.

That explains alot, you really have to project in the theater, tv not so much. she was so effing loud. I used to watch this with my ma and one of my bros. He totally crushed on Valerie, but dated local MacKenzies.

If the superintendent of your apartment building kept letting himself into your apartment uninvited wouldn't you... oh, I don't know... COMPLAIN TO THE MANAGER? Or at the very least change the locks/use the chain?
Yeah, I know he was their friend, but I don't even want my friends letting themselves into my house and hitting on me/butting into my business/giving unsolicited advice.

I wouldn't want that creepy freak letting himself in whenever he liked when I lived alone with my two teenaged daughters. Ann Romano was a crappy mother.
