I think she was flat out rude to The Guardian interviewer. Maybe another interviewer would have glossied it up and painted Kate in a sunnier, more accommodating light but if Kate couldn't be bothered being pleasant for 30-60 mins why should the interviewer gloss over bad behaviour. I think far too often celebs get away with rudeness and the media turns a blind eye because they don't want to loose access or offend the stars, their PR and the studios. And so they keep getting away with rudeness. It's pretty rare for an interviewer to call a celeb out so blatantly - Tom Hardy was recently called out for bad behaviour by an interviewer - so when it does happen I figure it's got to be exceptionally bad. Yup. They get away with their rudeness 95% of of the time, and when they don't, a lot of people blame the reporters for being "unprofessional" or for "asking dumb questions" or whatever. Occasionally it works though-remember when Cam Diaz and Jason Segal were totally rude on their "Sex Tape" press tour and got called out on it? Their movie bombed hard, and I like to think it's at least partially because people actually knew about their shitty behavior. I bet a lot more movies would do badly if people knew how nasty stars often are. Can you imagine if this piece about Kate Hudson had been written by someone from "InStyle"? Their interviewers are so far up celebrities' asses they could give them prostate exams. "Kate Hudson walks in looking effortless California Girl beautiful, even though she seems a bit tired. I know it's because she's missing her adorable son, Ryder, after working so hard. When I ask her about her baby weight and she says, 'If I didn't lose it, people like you would talk about it!' I have to agree. It's certainly not Kate's fault she's under so much public pressure to look thin. We average folk do like to talk about superstars like her. When I ask her another question and she says, 'That's not relevant,' I apologize to her. Stars shouldn't have to answer questions they feels aren't relevant." Etc etc etc. It makes me want to barf just imagining it.

Nothing will ever compare to the backstabbing frenemy work of genius that was the Plum Sykes Vogue article. As funny as that Guardian article is, the trashing is so over the top that it makes me feel like defending her. Is it so bad to have bony shoulders and tell people you are an Aries? And I kind of love her response to questions that were obvious traps: "That is unimportant to the moral of the story." Maybe Kate wasn't very nice to Ms. Helen Pidd of the Guardian because it was clear that Pidd had it in for her. Some of those British journalists are outrageously hostile and don't bother to hide it. My thoughts exactly. Kate Hudson came off as a loopy child of Hollywood as well as an actress who hinted at opinions she quickly and rudely backtracked on because she was a woman with a shaky career in a male-dominated business. Even now with feminism "trending," women in Hollywood still have to watch what they say and be careful not to name names and burn bridges when discussing topics like objectification, unequal pay, and the casting couch. I also caught a cultural bias from the interviewer. She seemed to dislike Americans generally and hippie-dippy California types in particular. The interviewer chose to leave out the "evidence," though, and uses her own words instead. I'm not a fan of cranky celebs who behave unprofessionally, and the same goes for journalists.

Kate Hudson for a long time was totally benign to me and I really didn't have an opinion one way or the other about her, but over the years I've grown to really dislike her. She clearly is one of those people who has had their ass kissed from right out of the womb until present day and seems so jaded that she truly believes she is more special than just about anyone else on the planet. Being the only girl among all her brothers probably gave even greater support to this delusional belief of hers. I love when the spoiled brats like her are called out on their shitty behavior. It rarely happens. Meg Ryan got away with it for years until she hit about 40; however, the one time she was called out for her bad behavior, I watched the tape and I'd have to say it was the interviewers that were jerks to Meg in that particular instance. It was with Michael Parkinson and at the end of the interview I remember these two women who were part of the interview looking at Meg's shoes and said very smugly something to the affect "how do you walk in those?" shrugging with this baffled look of disbelief that someone would wear such shoes. It was rude as hell and I actually felt like Meg was being ganged up on by all involved. Maybe it was her karma catching up with her from her earlier days when she was rude to interviewers who were being very kind to her. I don't know.

On Kate's post-pregnancy weight loss, didn't she have a large weight gain with her kid as well? I feel like I read she gained 80 pounds somewhere.

That part where Kate said she loved her pregnancy weight gain and felt curvaceous and sexy was howl-worthy. She blew up (I do think it was 80 pounds) and looked absolutely miserable. And then as soon as she had the baby she went on a starvation and exercise diet to lose the weight.

I might believe the part where she liked having bigger (pregnancy) boobs since she is basically minus an A cup, but she used to make fun of large breasted woman a lot (jealously) so even that's probably s lie.
I too get sick of female stars who gain weight and say "I love my new curves!" then kill themselves dieting and working out for like three months solid until they're 110 lbs again.

There's a scary hilarious photo floating around the Intarwebs of Kate right around the time she had Ryder. She looks like the albino from The Princess Bride.

She seems massively unpleasant to me. Also, that interview is funny and I'm going to start saying "that is SO not the moral of the story" like, a lot.

She seems massively unpleasant to me. Doesn't she? There is something just under the surface...I can't imagine it'd take a lot to expose.
