widdlesarah, since you are asking what kind of board this is, etc, I will say that considering you joined barely more than a week ago, you have posted a LOT That's because I am currently (extra) physically ill and have not much else to do in my life. If I find myself some good meds y'all won't see me so much, guaranteed

I've been reading these boards ever since the demise of the Fametracker forums, and it's been long enough that I'm preeeetttty sure I've gone through three different decades while lurking/posting between the two. I think I was in junior high when I started reading one or the other. And yeah, now I'm, uh, nowhere near my teenage years. :-)
I've always been a pop culture junkie, and what I've always enjoyed about this particular board is the balance between celeb snark and gushing. I feel like I'm among sane people, and that's... shockingly hard to find in terms of internet celeb discussion. It's usually blind adoration or blind hatred. These boards always seem to strike a level-headed middle ground between those two extremes.
On the subject of Kate Hudson: I was thrilled she lost the Oscar to Marcia Gay Harden, but beyond that I don't have a strong opinion of her, except for that low-cut gold Oscar dress she wore circa 2002. That was pretty.

Fellow admirer of AJ here! I've had quite a few interesting discussions and disagreements on this board that stemmed from celeb threads over the years. But at some point, it's not worth the negative energy to argue about a famous person you don't actually know, and we all have our own personal "step away from the computer" timeline. There's that lightbulb moment when you realize the absurdity of spending massive amounts of time and brain power on defending the honor of Christina Aguilera or whomever and have to let it go and move on. I also enjoy Dlisted and there's no either/or. It's like any other entertainment. Sometimes you're in the mood for fluff and fun, sometimes you're in the mood for something more serious.

Hah. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had insecure moments after defending some celeb or having a different opinion than the majority. Then the next day I am "liking" or getting "likes" from the same people in a different thread, because it's just not that serious. I really like that the board is filled with chill and thoughtful ladies and gents. It's a gentle board. Topic? I thought her Met Gala dress this year was pretty fab. But I am a sucker for a pretty gold dress.

I am the sole Tori Spelling defender, so right there with you. While I will probably never defend Tori, she gets a pass from me for exactly three reasons: 1. Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? (tho Ivan Sergei carries this Lifetime Classic) 2. Death of a Cheerleader (aka A Friend to Die For) 3. Making sweet, sweet summer love to Jason Priestly during the height of his hotness Topic: I have only seen Kate Hudson in The Skeleton Key and Dr. T and the Women. My memories of both movies are vague, to say the least.

Off-topic, I too really appreciate the people on this board. I come here for the funny, thoughtful, insightful, snarky, and/or gushy posts, and am never disappointed.

Happy to see everyone chime in here to make a new member feel welcome and to defend the culture of the board. We are indeed pretty chill, and we welcome all opinions on celebrities and issues as long as they don't insult other posters and their opinions. Just be respectful to others here and you should find a nice home for yourself.
I personally think Kate Hudson is a talentless and entitled brat with a mean streak and a hammer head, but appreciate anyone who disagrees with me. This would be a boring place if we all thought alike.

The only thing I ever really think of when it comes to her is that black bikini (Hawaii, possibly, not sure) she wore when a pap caught her fixing her bikini bottom. I don't think I've ever sat through any movie she was in from start to finish.

Cam we also not forget this? My jaw dropped when I saw it. I think that was the moment I figured out Stella McCartney was the worst designer in the world. Kate's not the only chick to get a career out of nepotism!
Nevermind, can't link right without a URL. It's that pic of Kate in her "I'm a spangly cowgirl who's gonna win myself a purdy Oscar y'all" outfit from the 2001 Oscars with the saloon girl curls and fringed neckpiece. Granted I saw her later without the neckpiece and the dress was okay. But DAT FRINGED NECKPIECE.
