Almost creepy, biondetta? It was really creepy -- the drunken looking swaying while she was smelling, the falling asleep in mid-smell, the over the top exclamations of pleasure at the scents. I felt like I was watching Paula A. give the worst looking mid-coital fake orgasm ever! If she isn't on drugs, I don't know how she made it this far in life before she became famous.

I agree. She seems really really drunk in everything that's going on. Plus, with some of the "Paula crisis" scenes it was totally weird. Like with the Brats movie--she's a producer and I wonder if she was ever officially the costumer designer or if she was like "I design and make pretty for the girls. " and they were like "Ooooohkay Paula. SURE you will" as she allowed her tiny dogs to eat the office supplies. Plus, considering she can't dress herself most days without getting on the worst dressed list, I find it odd that someone would put a movie's costumes in her hands.

Also, WTF was up with her getting a fashion 'icon' award and Tim Gunn kissing her butt? This has seriously compromised my love for him. ... Also, did anyone else catch her blaming the end of her singing career on her the awful outfit she wore to the Grammys one year? Yes, Paula it was a bad outfit that ended your career as a singer and not your loopy behavior and mediocre music.

I was fidgeting with embarrassment the whole time I watched this. Also, I noticed that in one episode she said, "I'm not on recreational drugs!" Uh, Paula? Abusing prescription pills is just as bad. Soon she will be as out of it as Anna Nicole. I shouldn't have laughed at that but Paula's half way to Anna Nicole land. Actually that outfit was part of why her career ended. She'd put out an album where she tried to "sing" and just didn't make it. But I do remember how people talked the next day about that outfit as well as the terrible performance.

I love this show because it lets you see what a horrible, horrible person she really is.
I'd like to start a Paula drinking game where you take a shot every time Paula blames someone else for something or accuses someone of messing her up. It's about every 10 seconds. I didn't believe Paula when she said the woman at the fashion awards handed her the speech upside down and out of order, for example. I don't believe that she told her assistants beforehand to pack her sweats. (It's not like they can contradict her.) I don't believe her jewelry samples were substantially different from what she "designed".
And there's no evidence for Paula's monumental exhaustion except for the constant voiceovers (from her, her publicist, her assistants) claming she is. As somebody pointed out on TWOP, it is metaphysically impossible for Paula to take a night flight from LA to NY and be there to do the QVC show at 1:30 a.m. the same night, as the show claimed. Paula had a whole day to hang around her hotel and rest before the QVC thing.
Oh, and the same person also found out the date of her QVC appearance, and it was right in the middle of the American Idol season, so her excuse about not having AI publicity was also bogus.

Oooh. She acts like a 12-year old girl in those clips-- squatting on the ground of the perfume lab, falling asleep at the meeting, giggling and spinning around at the coffee shop trying to get money from her handlers, that weird confused explanation she gives the cashier at Starbucks... She used to be chipper but normal back during her video days. Do you remember that? What the hell happened to that person? Dang.

What did Paula wear to the Grammys that was so awful? I was only ten or eleven years old then and I don't remember seeing it. I don't expect anyone has a picture of it, but can someone describe it? I must hear about an outfit so bad it could end a career!

I think that is what got me. She didn't always used to be like this! I remember watching her on an E! THS or something like that and although she was bizarre (kept talking about how she and her hair guy were best friends and she didn't meet men because she'd rather stay home and rent movies with him) she didn't slur and she wasn't like this--she wasn't drunk or anything. Or she didn't seem like she was drunk. Like she does now. Honestly now I don't think she's drunk, I think she just takes way too many prescription pain medications and they have made her like this.
I don't honestly remember it either and I was in high school when her career ended. From the clip they showed on the show it was a black leotard thing with black tights/nylons but the leotard was covered in little sqare rectangle silver mirrors. So she reflected. She says that her career ended because of that outfit. My opinion? Her career ended because 1) she was never that talented to begin with 2) her music was just getting bad--I remember in later album "Rush Rush" was the only big hit and that was sort of bad to begin with and 3) Nirvana & Pearl Jam became huge by my junior/senior year so the music tastes of America's youth changed and she was no longer representing the type that anyone cared about. So THAT is pretty much what destroyed her career. Lack of talent combined with bad songs combined with a changing taste. Not one silly mirrored outfit. The outfit didn't help highlight the fact that she wasn't valid anymore but it didn't solely destroy her career.
Also--this was brought up on the TWOP thread about the show but I agree so I am bringing it up here--Corey Clark. I pretty much thought she slept with him before but now I'm convinced that she did. She seems so drug-addled and needy that I can see her doing it.

I've had to take prescription pain meds a lot in the last two years (icky bone disease - BOO!), and she behaves exactly as one does when one has taken too many pain meds and one is trying to appear to be not on too many pain meds.
An acting teacher once told me that to play drunk well, you have to behave as though you are trying as hard as you can to NOT appear be drunk.
(what's up with my writing this morning? so round about and weird. and I haven't taken any pain meds!)
In any case, Paula is clearly addicted to pain meds. I only watched the fashion award episode, but it was so uncomfortable and upsetting that I don't think I'll watch it again.
However, I love the idea of Ginger's drinking game! Is it cool if I pop a vike instead of taking a drink, though?
I kid, I kid.

It may not have ended her career, but it was probably her first taste of backlash. I remember all of the infotainment shows tearing her to shreds the next day. She'd obviously put on a little weight, and a mirrored, bondage leotard was just not flattering. She looked like a disco ball in sausage casing. Plus, she performed Vibeology, which was a terrible single. And in the wake of the Milli Vanilli scandal, people just weren't tolerating Paula's meager vocal talent anymore.
