I don't blame the people around Paula; I don't think the woman has any self awareness. If someone were to try and tell her something, she'd probably fire them.

Well, I finally just saw the first episode - yeah, VERY likely painkiller intoxication behavior, and very Anna Nicole. And then we get a few scenes of her explaining things when she's more coherent. I've never been able to sleep when I'm on painkillers .. I'm tired, but "aware" all night. Insomnia .. uh huh. I just can't believe she or her people allowed this show to go on. I guess she's too out of it, but doesn't she have any decent people who can tell her straight up (no puns )?

I agree that her career was already on the way out because the music industry had already started to move in another direction and she didn't have the talent to follow. But I do think that performance was the symbolic end of her career because it had everything wrong with her on display in one little package - crappy songs, crappy voice, corny choreography, and she didn't even look that great so you couldn't say "Well, at least she's fun to look at." . Whoa Thought this was the Britney thread for a moment. ;D

Did nobody watch last night as she abused everyone around her? Poor Marty...she was blaming this guy for selling all of her jewelry and not saving her any (again--I don't believe for a second that she *told* these people beforehand that she wanted some saved) and after all of her haranguing, they kept showing Marty sitting in a chair looking completely defeated and clearly not in a position where he could defend himself.
And she went on and on about how incompetent her assistants are and how she needs new ones. If I'd done the drinking game, I would still be hungover right now. It was disgusting.

I know!! The latest episode made me officially dislike her. The whole episode consisted of her proclaiming she is "tired", "sleepy", "hungry" and just bitching about everything else. She should have just ate the M&Ms her assistant had when her "blood sugar was dropping". I also hate the way she is always asking people around her for spare change, that shit is really annoying. I was reading Twop forums on this show, and someone mentioned they didn't sell out on all of her jewelry, so they were still some of it left. She would just have to order it. She chewed that poor man out for no reason.
Who are these people that buy her jewelry at 4 o'clock in the morning?

I only tuned in last night long enough to hear her complain for the 1,000,000th time how "exhausted" and "tired" she was. I'm sorry—if you stopped taking drugs Paula, you might be less tired and less apt to complain about those three things you have to do all week.
God. Drug addicts are so insufferable and, with the exception of A&E's Intervention, make for some boring TV.

I used to like Paula. Does anyone know if she had an injury that caused her to start taking pain killers? She just seems very driven and controlling, so I can't imagine that she would just start using them recreationally.

A lot of people go into the entertainment industry for the same reason they do drugs -- because they have terrible self esteem and hate themselves. *I* hate Paula, so it's perfectly reasonable to think she hates herself too, and uses drugs to dull the misery of being around her obnoxious self all the time.

She just seems very driven and controlling, so I can't imagine that she would just start using them recreationally. According to Wiki: "Abdul told People magazine in April 2005 that she suffered from chronic pain for years following a cheerleading accident at age 17 and was diagnosed with reflex sympathetic dystrophy in November 2004. Abdul says she is now pain-free following treatment, including the anti-inflammatory medication Enbrel." So she's been on the happy pills for a looong time.

Nosily popping in to say that I've never seen this show, and don't watch AI so I am not up on Paula's antics. However I saw clips of Paula's show on one of those entertainment programs the other night and let me tell you - that woman is freakily insane. Drug-ishously insane. Good heavens woman!
