She didn't get that you only poke fun at yourself *after* you've admitted what you did and accepted your punishment. She kept acting like the whole thing was a silly misunderstanding. I still think she's going to have to publicly come clean about what she did--and more importantly, *why* she did it--before she can really bounce back. Because the impression is that she's insane. A nice, sane interview with Diane Sawyer would really help.

Methinks Miss Ryder had a problem with accepting responsibility for one's own mistakes prior to the shoplifting incident....

Hm. I never thought too much about her (and one probably shouldn't) I have to admit but thinking back to all the hype around her (that I can't remember all that well) she reminds me of Portman. Is she what Natalie will become in a few years? I think the same type of guy that used to think Winona was hot is now into Natalie. I think Winona was and still is prettier.

One thing that really annoyed the shit out of me was when she claimed she was a natural blonde. On what planet Winona?! On what planet?!

This?
had me giggling like a schoolgirl. Especially since I was thinking at the time she said it, "Umm, girl please. You are saying that to the guy who's causing it! Wake the fuck up and stop overacting!"
So 4 movies coming out? I am always amazed that these stars who make such bad choices (Robert Downey Jr., we're looking at YOU!) are always given another break. And another. And another. Remember with Winona it was not just the shoplifting, but the prescription drug abuse. And yet she'll be in FOUR movies this year?
If any of us pulled that crap in our jobs we'd be shown the door pronto, and permanently.

Hey Solly,
I agree with you - Winona was and is prettier than Natalie. She has more soul in her eyes. And that luminous skin...

Maybe, like Natalie, her acting was better when she was younger and more innocent. I loved her in "Mermaids." But the last thing I saw her in, either "Lost Souls" or "Autumn in NY," well, what can I say....both the movies and her acting sucked.

Yes, it can happen. My sister went from platinum blond to dark brown hair when she was little.
Topic? Winona can't act her way out of a paper bag, and never could. Neither can Natalie. Age will kill their careers more effectively than anything else.

I have to agree with others. My mother had white blonde hair as a child and ended up with almost black hair as an adult. I had blonde hair as well, but now it's more of a dark blonde/brownish thing.
Blond is associated with youth, that's partly why so many people go blonde (that and the myth that blondes have more fun).
Winona's voice bugs. I don't know what it is, but it bugs. Her accents are horrible as well! Hey Winona! Don't do accents!
