She was nominated for The Age of Innocence and while she was fine in the role, IMO she was also completely outacted by both Pfeiffer and DDL. Yet neither of them received a nom for their work in the movie. Perhaps it was a weak year for Supporting Actress, but still it does show that she was the IT-Girl of that time and that about everything she did was met with great approval by both press and industry.

I think it was just the one time he decided to try shouting things like "You fucking whore!" at her to motivate her for a scene. Naturally she didn't like that too much. But the rest of the time she would sit on his lap. At least this is what I've gathered from articles and on-set photos.

I'll admit she's not the greatest actress of her generation, but that's not why I like her. I think her best performance was probably in Mermaids. I love her in that cute little movie.

Do you think the fact she used to be friends with Courtney Love says something about her? I recently saw the Nick Broomfield documentary Kurt & Courtney and Courtney sounded pretty unpleasant (manipulative, ruthless, physically violent)

Drew Barrymore used to be friends with Courtney too and she seems like a pretty healthy person at this point in her life. I don't know how close either of these women were to Courtney, were they real friends or Hollywood friends who met up at events and clubs and got their photo taken together?

Ed Norton dated CL for years. She is mostly horrible but there must be something about her that attracts these seemingly smart and/or decent people to her. Maybe they want to take care of her.

I think Winona is doing a new tv show. Something on Netflix or Amazon maybe? I'll be happy to see her back.

I can totally see how someone would be friends with Courtney Love, maybe because I've had friends like her in the past. If you see or read interviews with her, she can be really fascinating and charming when she wants to be. I think being friends with her is probably a rush for awhile, when she's being crazy in a fun way. But if you'll notice, no one actually STAYS friends with her, because I'm pretty sure she's one of those people who eventually turns on you, for some perceived slight, and that's when the crazy goes bad... very, very bad. I would love to have a list of Courtney's feuds with her former friends/lovers. Off the top of my head I can think of Billy Corgan, Ryan Adams, Marilyn Manson, but I'm sure there are many more. I don't think Courtney has full-on feuded with Winona, but I do remember her making a public comment about Winona giving her pills or something like that.

There's probably an online list of people she's feuded with. There is a list like that for Morrissey. He can't get along with anyone, but I am less inclined to say that he has a personality disorder than I am with CL.

Well, I am a Morrissey apologist until the end of time, sooo... I can't go there. Morrissey and Larry David, those are my two celebs I will always love unless they kick a puppy or something like that, which obviously isn't going to happen with Morrissey.

I was never a big Winona fan, but she's doing an awesome job on Netflix's Stranger Things. It might be the best work I've ever seen her do. Before, in most of the stuff she go praised for, I'd always think she was a bit too "actress-y" and never fully delving into the character/part. In this? She's not holding back a bit.

Color me impressed.

I think she over-acted in Stranger Things. Part of it is the fact that her character has to begin the series at emotional level 11 when her son vanishes in the opening scene. But I still felt like her histrionics were too much.

Still really glad to see her working and the series getting such a positive response. The actor who plays Jonathan Byers said she gave him some of her old Clash t-shirts, which is really cute.
