I think she over-acted in Stranger Things. Part of it is the fact that her character has to begin the series at emotional level 11 when her son vanishes in the opening scene. But I still felt like her histrionics were too much. I felt the same way. She's really not that strong of an actress, but I'm happy to see her back.

I agree that she overacted, but I loved everything about ST, so I'll take it.

I don't think she overreacted, but that's probably because I feel that I'd likely be that level of Meltdown if one of my kids went missing (I truly think I'd lose my mind if I lost a child under any circumstances). I am so glad to see her back, though, it's possible I might be a bit more forgiving

I am so glad to see her back, though, it's possible I might be a bit more forgiving This was my thinking too. She was going out of her ever loving mind but there were times when she had to hold that in for politeness sake or to convince people she wasn't actually crazy. It was the times she had to hold in all that manic, terrified energy, heartbreak and rage that I thought she really excelled. Plus, she's finally ditched that little girl voice she carried even well into her 30's (which always bugged me). Whether that was a conscious choice on her part to speak in a lower register or the cigarettes have finally killed it for her, I don't know. But I bought what she was selling.

Maybe she finally saw a voice coach or speech therapist. That might have been a prerequisite for getting back into acting again. I would love to hear the story of her absent years.

Winona really can't escape from 1995, can she?

Apparently not. I like her hair, though.

At least we can't see her lingerie.

She seems whacked out of her mind. What the hell was she on!
