The full-length article/interview with him on HuffPo is chockfull of dumb quotes like that, with him inserting himself into the problems of celebs (Tony & Eva, Miley, etc.) that are (a) none of his business and (b) he's not really qualified to judge. He's an addiction specialist, not a couples counselor, so I don't know what makes him an expert on such things. Oh, randomly, he claims that he's known Ryan Reynolds "for a long time" and "he's a nice guy" so Drew has no clue why his marriage ended because Ryan "seems like someone who should be in a healthy relationship" . I had no idea that they knew each other, but it's not like they're BFFs. Drew's just name-dropping to add to his fame. I also have no recollection of Brad ever saying that about Jennifer. And if so, I'm not really sure how qualifying someone as oriented towards long-term relationships is "demeaning" and emotionally dismissive. Most of all, though, this pisses me off because SOOOOOO many times on Loveline (I often am driving at night when it comes on KROQ, so I listen), Drew says that marijuana addiction is totally real, can have severe long term effects, etc, etc. Isn't Brad pretty open about being a big stoner? Isn't he not "in recovery" for his addiction? But, you know, the fact that he still smokes pot apparently doesn't matter compared to Angelina's heroin use a decade or so ago. I used to adore him, but it is ridiculous how little I respect him now. He's a total sell-out famewhore. (And, until Dan Savage pointed it out, I didn't realize that Drew is actually incredibly sex-negative -- consensual threesomes are ALWAYS horribly destructive, if you're a girl and take it up the butt, you *will* have an anal prolapse, anyone who is a porn star/stripper/escort MUST have been molested, etc.) And frankly, what he's doing with Celeb Rehab/etc. is medically unsound and dangerous. If he really wanted to make sure these people got help, he'd be doing it with the cameras off and in the form of one-on-one treatment rather than putting a bunch of destructive has-beens in a house and hoping for their meltdowns leading to ratings gold.

This is something that really bugs me about him. On the Teem Mom show Amber and Gary had an abusive relationship and Dr. Drew encouraged them to stay together for the sake of their child. He also allowed Heidi Fleiss and Tom Sizemore to go through rehab and Sober House together and acted like theirs was a love story when it was nothing of the kind. It was a violent, destructive, unhealthy relationship. Does he have the same idiotic attitude of 'love conquers all' and 'stay together for the sake of the child at all costs' on his radio show?

He also told another teen mom (Maci) that she needed to stay with the deadbeat, loser boyfriend! Poor girl just sat there in shock. Why is he even hosting those shows? How is he an expert on teen pregnancy?
So isn't Jennifer Aniston a big stoner too? Why isn't she an addict? It makes a better story for Angelina to be a life-long heroin addicted welder.
Time to apologize!
;D So he was caught talking shit about the Jolie-Pitts and someone turned him in. He doesn't know these people - doesn't he talk CONSTANTLY about people he doesn't know? He's back to talking about Lindsay today.

It was an "exercise in speculation" and things were "taken out of context." What! Ever!

Jerkwad, if you don't want something you say to be part of the "public discourse," then don't say it an interview that you know is on the record and is going to be published. That goes for all celebs. Don't say it to VF or Letterman, don't Tweet it or Facebook it unless you want the public to hear it and are willing to stand by what you're saying.
I don't watch the Teen Mom shows but he does take more of a hard-ass approach to teenage relationships on Loveline -- girls will call in with problems and be all "but I love him! & we're supposed to be together forever!" and he'll often respond "No, you're 19. You don't have to have found the love of your life yet. Relationships that young are usually *supposed* to end. Move on, explore other options." - I wish I could remember a teen preggers-specific call though.
ETA: I just noticed the fantastical syntactical paradox of "literally as though."

You mean you didn't find Janice Dickinson's panic attack entertaining? I thought it was pretty darn funny. What a coincidence that this attack came on the same day Rachel came back and was getting extra attention. Janice can't stand for another woman to get more attention than her. It makes her batshit. When Frankie was upset in the group and was being showered with attention Janice made sure to crazy it up and steal the attention away. It's almost sad to see a woman Janice's age who still has that whacked thought process. She should thank God everyday of her life that she lives in a time where there is such a thing as reality shows. The attention she receives on them is probably what's kept her alive the last 10 years.

I agree with what's been said about Dr. Drew and his trashy show, but it appears to have truly helped Tom Sizemore get clean. Per this article from September, he's sober, working a lot, and very grateful to Drew. I hope he keeps it together.

Janice's mouth freaks me out - especially when she's panicking. It gets all puckered up, blowfish, maybe she's playing a wind instrument ... looking. She had gorgeous full lips when she was young, what DID she do to her mouth?
I don't know what she's gonna do now ... hasn't she done all the reality that'll have her? I guess Drew can pull together another sex addiction show and add all the famewhores who aren't done. I wonder how many times Dancing with the Stars must have turned her down?

Did anyone else bother to see this through? The reunion show wasn't exactly a tearjerker. Eric Roberts was an arrogant dick with his notes cause God forbid we don't get to hear his important thoughts on....his career and his stepson's career. That's all he cared to talk about really. Leif clearly did not want to be there and I'm not even going to assume it's because he was using. I just think he hates being around famewhores. Dr. Drew had the nerve to scold the audience for snickering during a montage of Frankie's ridiculous rants. Give. Me. A. Break. This is a Celebreality on VH1 people! It's super serious! VH1 really cares about the celebs they sign on and does not want you to laugh at them!
