Oooh, good call, dguzby. I've had my eye on the partner for a while. Mike was getting info on Hank from somewhere and giving it to Gus. Could have been from bugs in DEA offices, could have been live sources.

Ooohhhh, that was GOOD!
So the Denny's scene was set well after the scenes from the rest of the show, yes? We can assume that Walt winds up alone and on the run later in the season?

Yeah, probably like the season that ended in the plane crash, but opened with debris from the crash floating in Walt's pool. I'm glad to have Mike back. I would watch Mike, Saul, and the junkyard guy sit around and banter all day. I think Walt has officially become to big for his britches. He's walking around like he's the freakin' Godfather. This is absolutely going to come back and bit him in the ass.

Meh. Fell kind of flat for me. Maybe it's that the episode "Face Off" was just so damn good.
"Yeah, bitch! Magnets!" was amusing, though.

Oooh, good call, dguzby. I've had my eye on the partner for a while. Mike was getting info on Hank from somewhere and giving it to Gus. Could have been from bugs in DEA offices, could have been live sources. Delurking to say that I agree with this! Even if it's not a mole in the DEA, you get the idea that Gus had some very shady "friends" in super high places! With all of the dirty stuff that went on in South America and Central America 20+ years ago there's no telling who will not be a happy camper and come around asking questions about his death. They found off-shore banking info hidden in that picture frame after the evidence room caper. Couple that with the hinky run-around Hank got when he tried to look into the German conglomerate ("Madrigal") last season, and I smell a Pharmaceutical Blackwater or or something along those lines! (There are lots of pharmaceutical companies based in Germany....) My guess is that Saul may be the one to topple this whole house of cards! The $ or something will get traced to him eventually, and, if they have him dead to rights, I'm sure he'll be all too happy to sell everybody else out in exchange for saving his own ass. I hope Hank subtly starts looking into Walt pretty soon. I think it would be disingenuous and a bit of an insult to Hank's investigative talents if he doesn't start to suspect Walt after all that has happened. The preview for next week hints that Hank isn't totally clueless....

I hope Hank subtly starts looking into Walt pretty soon. I think it would be disingenuous and a bit of an insult to Hank's investigative talents if he doesn't start to suspect Walt after all that has happened. The preview for next week hints that Hank isn't totally clueless.... I think Hank's been on to Walt for a while, ever since Gale's murder. Gale was the clue that whoever was cooking for Gus wasn't a Jesse Pinkman type street hustler or a cartel knuckle-dragger like Tuco. Gale was an educated, professional chemist. When Hank gave Gale's notebook to Walt, he said he wanted Walt's insight on Gale's notes but he was watching Walt's face very intently. Then he pointed out that Gale worshipped a certain WW. Walt brushed it off as meaning Walt Whitman but Hank said "Or Walter White." Then there's the poorly explained flood of money into the White family. What makes more sense, that your chemistry nerd brother-in-law out of the blue became a card counting genius at the casinos or that he cooked up some really good meth? I don't think Hank 100% believes Walt's the guy or that he wants to believe it but he's on his way to putting it all together.

But didn't Hank get Walt to bug Gus' car after the conversation about Gale? And he tried to get Walt to drive him to the superlab. I can see Hank maybe showing him Gale's notes to see Walt's reaction but it makes no sense that he would keep involving Walt in his surveillance of Gus if he really believed that he was involved.
It would make zero sense for Mike to partner up with Walt but I hope he does just because their bickering was the most amusing part of the episode. I love Jesse and all but he if he stays partnered up with Walt he kinda deserves whatever happens to him next. Now that Gus is gone, his life is no longer in danger. He doesn't really need the money and he seems to at least suspect that Walt is out of control in the car ride at the very end. He should take Mike's advice and just split town.
Things I didn't notice in that episode that smarter people than me pointed out: in the flashforward Walt was not wearing his wedding ring. The gun dealer was the guy that Walt bought the gun from last season. Walt and his bacon birthday was a callback to the pilot when he got the turkey bacon at his 50th birthday breakfeast. In the flashforward Walt puts his bacon in the shape of 52 which suggests that it takes place 2 years from the pilot. Although that would mean he had his real birthday on his fake ID which would be weird. Oh and he got real bacon this time.
I wonder if the vacuum cleaner guy who can make people disappear will show up this season.
