Listening to the oldies station, ELO comes on. I hear P singing in the backseat. "My demon llama... My demon llama..." I will never hear that song the same again. My son was a big fan of Foreigner's "Juice Box Hero." It really does change the way you hear the song forever. And it's awesome.

For some of you youngsters that never heard if ELO, the original song is "Mean Evil Woman." Jeez, I am old enough to remember that when that album came out, and they went on tour to promote it, there was a huge backlash when people found out they were using backing tracks to "augment" their live sound. Not like Milli Vanilli outrage, but then, at least ELO was using their own tracks....

D'oh!! Up until this very moment I thought ELO was singing Medieval Woman!! Well my mind is good and blown!.. although even knowing the actual words now, I still want to replace them with My Demon Llama.
Also, from a page back, for quite a while when Billie Jean came out, 13-year-old me thought MJ was saying "Billie Jean's knockin' at my door now!"
And in not exactly misheard lyrics- but close news: There's a syndicated radio program that plays on the weekends on my local station which I thought was called "Bluesty Locks" (like Goldielocks... but for the Blues! Get it? How clever!... I guess...) I didn't realize until a month or so ago when they got some famous blues legend to do a promo shout out for them but the show is actually called "Blues Deluxe". Which, makes a whole lot more sense.
Man, I need to get my ears cleaned, yo!

Consider my mind blown too, because I thought ELO was just elongating the "E" in Evil Woman.

Great song, great band, but their diction just sucks on this song. I had no idea what ELO were saying, but I like the song. My demon llama makes as much sense as anything else.
Demon llama vs. Billy Jesus!

I just looked up the lyrics and apparently, it is an elongated "E." For once, I didn't misappropriate a lyric, as I am wont to do.

I stand corrected.
My appreciation of ELO came late in life. Hated them back in the day. Once I found out they evolved from the Move, and were responsible for "Do Ya?", I started coming round.
Then Jeff Lynne produced the reunited Beatles tracks, and I caved.
Even looking at the lyrics, I couldn't accept it. But, as I am wiring up the new studio here in the basement, I fired it up on the iPod, and listened close on two sets of studio monitors. Elongated "E" it is!

I'm amused because I usually get lyrics wrong so I just assumed I was wrong and that the lyric was "Mean Evil Woman." I'm not a big fan of classic rock in general, but I really dig ELO. Always have.

Since we're on an ELO tip here, I started pondering "Don't Bring Me Down" I was pretty sure he was saying "Don't Bring Me Down, BRUCE!" Never really thought about who Bruce might have been or why he would bring the guys down. But since I was so dead wrong on Medieval Woman, I figured I gotta be way off about 'Bruce' too. So I looked it up.
He's actually saying 'Don't bring me down, groos!' Waaaah? What the heck is a groos? Wikapedia says Jeff Lynne just made it up. I see.
Well, I reckon if Steve Miller can have his 'Pompotous' of love to speak of, then Jeff Lynne can tell that old 'Groos' not to bring him down.
Still, I think I'll stick with 'Bruce' when singing along to this song... although I'm updating 'Medieval Woman' to 'My Demon Llama' ;-)

Is his name not Bruce, then? THAT's gonna cause a bit of confusion!
