It's been rumored that he dated PJ Harvey when they toured in 2004. I also have had a huge crush on Klinghoffer since 2004 so I wouldn't be surprised - he's hot, he's an awesome guitar player and he's about to be swallowed up by the Chili Peppers' idiot fans.

A little o/t. I used to love the RHCP. Love. My older son is learning to play guitar and so his playing of Under the Bridge and Snow relit my john Frusicante love. BUT enough. Its RHCP 24-7 around here. I can't stand the sound . Sadly I will never hear Klinghoffer play with them because I will stab myself in the ears with an icepick before I will of my own free will listen to them.

Bumping this thread because I just bought The Empyrean by John Frusciante and he officially is now my imaginary rock star boyfriend. Can't get enough of him now. That album is in my car, on my home computer, and my work computer. Been watching clips on YouTube. It's like I'm 16. (And I'm more than twice that.) Sigh. Is he on good terms with RHCP? Anybody know? His solo stuff just blows me away. I realized that on the last to RHCP albums it was his guitar and backing vocals that I liked best. And I love his scraggly Jesus look. He and I are now deeply, deeply in love (in my mind).

Can we talk about the death of rock star crushes here? Carl Barat has been my boyfriend in my mind for a long time, but I think I have to break up with him. The last Dirty Pretty Things record was underwhelming, but I held on for the solo stuff. I had my first listen this weekend and it sounds...bad, and the excerpts I have read from his autobiography are ridiculous. This is a love that has taken a while to die, but the drink, drugs, and adulation have finally got to him.

Anthony Kiedis was sort of my imaginary boyfriend for a long while, but that love faded. I found a copy of his autobiography at a used bookstore recently, and I just finished plodding through it. It definitely killed any lingering love I had for him. I don't hate him now or anything. I respect him for staying clean. But knowing he was a manwhore and then reading about all the chicks through the years are two separate things. It got laborious. The book actually fueled my love for John Frusciante. He had the balls to say the rock band genre had gotten stale and quit to do what he loves. People who get wrapped up in the rock star ethos have a short window unless they're really lucky.
I will say, however, John Taylor of Duran Duran was my first imaginary boyfriend. I broke up with him long, long ago when their music went downhill and I got bitter about having spent all my babysitting money so they could pay for drugs and women. But I like him again now. He seems to have a very objective outlook on the past and fame and seems down-to-earth. Were he not married, I might consider taking him back.

I smiled at Anthony Kiedis on the street in NYC once outside a fancy hotel. Then he got closer and it was Iggy Pop, and awkward for both of us.

BTW, I'm not really a Chili Peppers fan at all, but I love Frusciante (and Klinghoffer!)

;D
It would've been great to be a fly on the wall during that awkward encounter.

Still crushing on Dave Grohl. The video for Walk only strengthens my love for the tall, dark and mildly nerdy wonder that is this man. I wonder what our babies would look like?

I have been listening obsessively to Indochine, and kind of have a tiny, slightly shameful crush on Nicola Sirkis[/color], although it's embarrassing because we kind of have the same hair cut. But mine is red.
