I swore Rod Stewart had a new song out the first time I heard "You're Beautiful." I had that impression too! Because I'm mentally 12, I think it's funny that his name (James Blunt) is a 1)term for a marijuana cigarette and 2)rhymes with the c-word. The song itself really isn't so bad, it's just his voice! Call me closeminded but it's weird and I don't like it.

Nizlopi are British, aren't they? I really like their Jcb song. Oh, and can all the Brits here please go and buy Will Young's new single? Come on, you know you want it (and him)!! And yes, I do make a point of mentioning him in all my posts in this thread.

I'm surprisingly getting into Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. It takes a few listens to get used to it but then it's actually catchy. And if you really listen to the lyrics it's sometimes just random words and the lead singer sounds totally drunk. Good times.

I would happily push James Blunt off a cliff. Followed by Katie Melua.

Will Young's new single Who Am I is just such a beautiful song, if you haven't heard it, you can listen to the song and watch the video here: www.willyoung.co.uk/cinemaAnd no, I do not get paid for bringing up his name all the time! And I do not feel embarrassed to admit that I'm a fan (like no one could have guessed that one)! Why is bloody James Blunt having a big international career with one silly song but not wonderful Will Young?

I spent three days in London last week to see my sister and I think I heard James Morrison's You Give Me Something about a zillion times on the radio. It's good though. I've see posts on other boards that compared him to Blunt but I wouldn't say that at all. Morrison's voice doesn't grate after two minutes IMHO. That might change though .

Alesha Dixon, who was in Misteeq and starred in NERD's She Wants To Move video, is looking to take the 'British Beyonce' tag from Jamelia, and deservedly so IMO. Lipstick is fun, her next single Knockdown sounds amazing, and she is beautiful, charismatic and likeable. I've heard Jamelia's comeback single, due later this year, and the verses are floaty and lovely, but the Kelly Clarkson chorus is doing nothing for me. She seems to have lost that edge she once had. It is ALL about Lily Allen at the moment though. I love that Smile went to number one (and was very surprised), and she is just a fantastic talent and pop star- feisty and unique, with an album chockablock with wonderfully summery ska pop, kinda like a baby pink version of The Streets. I adore her. I think British music is in rude health at the moment, there's just so much to like in so many different genres. I have to say I'm not too keen on current indie kings the Kooks though. Their songs are so...twee? Naive has a certain iconic resonance about it already, though.

Beth Orton - such beautiful music and such a unique voice. For some reason she gets labelled as electronica sometimes but she's not. Lovely, easy songs - kind of folky at times. I consider Damien Rice British, but I know he's Irish. His album is perfect to just chill too in a quiet evening home, but too quiet to listen to in public, when I have to crank the IPod to block out city noise. Am I the only one on this board who will admit my James Blunt love? Me and the rest of America can't be wrong! I adore Catherine Wheel to this day- brilliant rock, at a time when America was not producing much good rock. And Badly Drawn Boy - he plays all the instruments in his songs, very impressive. "About a Boy" is one of my favorite movie soundtracks.

Lily Allen has already managed to wear thin with me. She's slagged off so many people now, that it's predictable and pathetic.
Sure she has some catchy songs with quirky lyrics, but she's not as original or innovative as she likes to think she is. Smug bitch.
