If you like Talib Kweli you should buy Beautiful Struggle. It's a wonderful album.
I think that the best place to hear great artists is on university radio. I find that the mainstream radio stations play the same songs ad nauseum.

For the love of God, DON'T DO IT!!! If you're a fan, then go ahead, but if you're doing a blind purchase, I REALLY reccomend you listen to clips of it first before spending your money. I bought it thinking it would be as good as his previous albums and was so pissed and dissapointed. The only good songs on there are "Go" and "Testify".
Just my opinion, but I just want to help you possibly save $15

I did go ahead and buy it but I can't say I agree it is his best IMO but to each his own. I don't regret buying it..it might just be one of those ones that grows on you at lot later. But I doubt I'm gonna like it as much as "Electric Circus"

Thanks Draco & Vegas for the input on Common. Definitely going to stop by a "real" record store so I can listen through Be before going to Target to get it cheap Will definitely check out Beautiful Struggle. Now, why I did I listen to a Clear Channel hip hop station in the car today? Is it because I wanted to be up late with some 80 year-old lady screaming "Go sit down! Go sit down!" in my head? And why was that the only song that didn't sound like the sound track to some movie strip club scene?

I'd feel 1000x better about giving Common my money before Talib Kweli.
Beautiful Struggle? I gave that mess away. I don't know what happened to Kweli after Reflection Eternal. Ick.
I like "Be". Too much Kanye...but if you can over look that...It's a great CD. It's no "Like Water for Chocolate" though.

Okay, I was flipping TV channels yesterday and came across a 100ft tall Rev. Run walking through NYC and rapping over what sounded like a sample from Joan Jetts "I Love Rock and Roll".
I think the song is called "My Mind on the Road". I was so shocked at the thought of new Run DMC (RIP Jam Master Jay) that I kinda missed it (plus Donald Trump & that lisping guy who's married to Kimmora at the end of the video were distracting, too).
Anybody heard the whole thing? Is this a one off or is an album dropping soon?

Rev. Run has a reality show coming on VH1, so maybe it had something to do with that.

I have read this thread and haven't seen anyone mention Aesop Rock (if I somehow missed a mention, my apologies). Love! "Labor Days" is one of the most fantastically brilliant albums EVER, IMO. If you haven't heard of him, you should really check him out. Oh, and to whomever mentioned Company Flow -- word.

Afterall, the press the last 5 years have painted him as little more than a Kimmora Lee Simmons fashion accessory. That's why I mentioned her name. Thanks zacandmax for the heads up on the reality show. Caught it this weekend. A little boring, but I'm looking forward to that interning for "Auntie Kimmora" episode that they teased at the end.
