Drat!
I missed it. Oh well, VH1 will show thousands of reruns, I'm sure.

MTV and Crunk + Disorderly are reporting that Dallas Austin was caught smuggling drugs Dubai. This is so odd, why would a guy who has all that money risk his life like that? Over what, some drugs? It makes no sense. I hope they just put him in jail or something, I doubt they'll let him get off with nothing.

Saul Williams is amazing. I love that his stuff is a fusion between hip-hop and industrial. Speaking of industrial, Trent Reznor is producing his next album. Should be fantastic.

I can't believe it took me so long to notice this last post, but since it was me who initially went on about Saul Williams back on page 1 of this thread (and again later), I had to respond with:
a) pleasure that yet another person other than me is familiar with him, and b) a thanks for the heads-up on the new album. It sounds like it will be (pardon the CTC-ism) amazing.
Since he's from Brooklyn (still lives there, I think) hopefully there'll be some shows in and around NYC. (Which will also work for you, right, Nerfertiti?)

I went to see Masta Ace and Wordsworth in Germany, they are both really nice people. Before the show I was walking around the center of the city and saw Wordsworth come out of his hotel. He stopped and talked to me and signed a CD. Then after the show Ace stayed and signed something for everybody that asked. Its sad to see somebody like Ace retire. He has had many problems with record companis but at least he is working with Wordsworth and Punchline.

Everybody needs to keep speading the word. The man is fantastic.

Rap music in decline. My take: pop music trends used to fluorish for less than a decade and then vanish with relatively little comment. That's what happened to doo-wop, to rockabilly, to Stax/Volt style soul music, to the early 60s folk movement, to acid rock, to Disco and a dozen other trends. So I don't understand why people assume that the reigning trends of the 90s (rap, alt-rock or whatever you call it, 'punk,' r & b) are suppposed to go on forever. Nor do I understand why kids today don't bother to invent their own type of music.

Is Soulja Boy trying to make the worse songs ever? I didn't think anything could get worse than Pretty Boy Swag.
