To start the thread off:
I think Out of Time by REM (barring Shiny Happy People) is a better album than Automatic for the People, which just bores me.
And, I hate Radiohead.

White Stripes are so fuckingly overrated.
Duran Duran, however, defy mere musical genres. But you could've guessed I'd say that.

They sure do! There's hair, makeup, gender confusion... Sorry. Never liked Duran squared. Nor the white Stripes.
The Monkees, however? Seriously underrated. Not kidding.

I never saw the appeal of Led Zeppelin or Nirvana.
Not that I deny their respective places in music history. I just don't care for 98% of their songs.

Most mainstream emo is boring, even though as a surburban high school student I'm required to listen and relate - I just can't. It hurts. I don't want to go see some band whine in music that goes on and on and on and doesn't get interesting. In fact, the last concert I went to was Celine Dion's Las Vegas show.
Another unpopular opinion is I enjoyed it very much and was shaking from the excitement of hearing her sing.

The Rolling Stones shouldn't bother with their latest tour. No one cares anymore.

If as a college freshman in 1995, I had said that I hated Pearl Jam, I would have been taken out to the "scary" off-campus fraternity and strung up by my toes with a flannel shirt stuffed in my mouth.

I don't care what anyone says, I actually like Maroon 5. At least, the songs that don't make them sound like a boyband.
For some strange reason, I seem to have outgrown The Dave Matthews Band. "American Baby": meh. And Tori Amos, for the most part.
Also, I like Gavin DeGraw. Once you get past the teeny-bopper anthem "I don't want to be," he's actually got something real behind him.
And finally, while I still like Duran Duran (no, they never truly went away, so I can't beg for them to bear this burden...), but I want Roxette to come back and lead the newest pop revolution.

The Rolling Stones shouldn't bother with their latest tour. No one cares anymore. Ooooh, sorry, but that is so untrue. A lot of people in Boston are practically falling over with excitement that they're beginning their tour here. I've heard people from a wide range of age groups carrying on about it. My unpopular music opinion? I love the lyrics in Neil Diamond's songs. The problem is (a friend and I went over this carefully one time) it seems like there is often a single really dumb line in each song that sticks out like a sore thumb. We actually wondered if he purposely sticks in one awful line per song so that other people won't cover it. You know, as in, "I'd love to cover 'I am, I said,' but then I'll have to sing '...not even the chair,' and I just can't do that. So I guess I'll forget about it." I know, silly theory. But we couldn't get over the phenomenon of the 'one bad line' thing.

I dig both their music, and I don't care who knows it! Then again, these aren't unpopular opinions amongst my friends so maybe that's why I'm not ashamed.
