Is it this?
If so, it's by a band called crash and is called...wait for it..."It's contagious"
Otherwise, maybe it's this?
If it's this one, it's by Regina Spektor and is called Us.

I saw this music video on the Fuse cable channel, on Steven's Untitled Rock Show. I don't remember any of the lyrics. The video had something to do with a dance-off/break dancing; it looked liked it took place during the 1980s. The lead singer had long light brown/blonde hair and a thin moustache. Thanks.

Two for the price of one!
1. Gah! I am trying to reconstruct a mix a friend made me a couple years ago, and the only song I can't find is one whose title I never knew in the first place.
Description as follows: Genre: smart rap/hip-hop. Like the Dead Prez/Pre-Fergie Black Eyed Peas/Jurassic 5. Good beats, but it wasn't really beat oriented. The mix was made in 2004, but the song seemed a bit older, although I have no idea. The lyrics contain the lines "'cos everybody got to go" and "I ain't got time to waste" Whch generate nothing really concrete in Google because they are a little generic.
2. Sometime around 1997-1999 a Spanish language album was released that we played all the time in the record store where I was working. I'm 98% positive it was a female vocalist (as opposed to a band) but I'm not certain where she was from. The album was classified as "world music" but wasn't necessarily ethnographic, but more "traditional" pop, if that makes sense. It kind of followed the Cesaria Evora type music--distinctly pop but with a certain something else that made it somehow "ethnic" to an American audience, not really like Ricky Martin or Shakira. I remember accordions on the album, and the only lyric I know for sure was "Soy tu esclavo [I'm your slave]" but when I looked at allmusic and Latin Billboard, I couldn't find anything. I think I might remember the album art--green ferns, darkness and a sploctch of red are making an impression in my mental eye.
thanks, all!

Did you know another song of hers? If you give me lyrics of another song, then I will definitely be able to track this artist. Do you know how she looked like? If you give me more lyrics, I can most likely be able to help you. Those lyrics you posted sound familiar. Was the song fast? Slow? A love song? Did she have a particular accent? For example did she pronounce the r's as l's? Does she have a good voice, or "good" with plenty of protool?
ETA- I have got a song of my own that I want the title and artist. It is a Spanish song but clearly sung by an Italian. Some of the lyrics
In the end, he just goes la, la, la.

For example did she pronounce the r's as l's? Does she have a good voice, or "good" with plenty of protool? She definitely had a good voice, more alto than anything. It was also kind of "showy." Not like Cesaria Evora or Lila Downs, who have excellent voices, Mystery Singer used a lot of flourishes, maybe a few gasps or moans. Musically, I'm ridiculously ignorant but the best way to describe it was that it definitely made you want swivel or writhe while listening to it (not like Miami Sound Machine or anything, but something kind of twisty--I sort of want to say "tango" which makes me think she might be Argentinian?) Also, the "soy tu esclavo" song, unfortunately the only one I recall, had accordions, and the tempo definitely picked up at the end, and quickly. As far as her accent, a couple of my co-workers spoke Spanish at home (sort of--each of them had one Spanish speaking parent) and neither of them had too much trouble picking out lyrics, except where lyrics are naturally muddled anyway. Since you mention it, that "Spanish, sung by an Italian" rings a bell, but it doesn't quite fit. I hadn't thought of this song in a long time, then suddenly I went through a Rock in Espanol phase. I have Marco Antonio Solis on my iTunes. Sadly, I don't know anyone at my former store, and even if I did, l doubt anyone would tolerate the insanity of the call ("hello? I'm looking for a song? It's in Spanish? You played it a lot in 1998? It had a greenish cover?"). Thanks, Coffeecakes! I'll try peeping yours and maybe we'll have each other's luck! 4/28: Mystery solved! It's "El Payande" by Lhasa de Sela. ETA: Coffeecakes! Is your song "Mi historia entre tus dedos" by Gianluca Grignani?

So I've heard this song about four times in the car today, and each time the radio DJs don't bother to tell me who it is. The chorus goes "Building sandcastles in the sky" and it sounds like one of those schmoopy awful James Blunt rip off singers. Anyone know who he is?
