Not a what but a who: Back when Little Cranky #1 was a baby, we watched a lot of late-night tv, and one night I found myself watching the local cable-access bulletin board. The soundtrack consisted of a bunch of songs that were vaguely Celtic-y but otherwise unrelated. One of the songs was a hard rock cover of "Wha'll Be King but Charlie" ("Come through the heather, around him gather/You're all the welcomer early...") These boys were really rocking out! I've been looking for it, but while lots of acts have covered it, they seem to be mostly Celtic fiddle bands, which is fine but not what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any idea who the mystery band might be? I don't think it's the Pogues or the Dropkick Murphys (guesses from various acquaintances of mine), unless they've recorded it under a title I'm not familiar with. But it's that sort of sound.
Thank you!

What about the Real McKenzies? They're definitely in the wheelhouse for fans of the Pogues, Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys. ETA: I couldn't find a listing for them singing "Wha'll be a king but Charlie?" but I did discover the song has an alternate title of "News frae [or from, in some cases] Moidart."

Thanks, chonies! That's not the band, but now I have some new music to listen to!
I've looked all over iTunes, and not getting any love for anything with "Moidart" in the title either. It's occurred to me that what I may have been listening to was a cover by a local band, in which case good luck ever finding it.
Thanks again!

Susan Boyle sang "You Have to be There" tonight on America's Got Talent (there's nothing on!). It sounded like a Broadway show song, but I can't place it. Anyone know?

Isn't that from the show by the Abba guys? Kristina from Duvemala?

The song I'm looking for is Listen to Your Heart, but not by Roxette. I heard a piano version on the radio and didn't get a chance to look on their website as to who it is by. Does anyone know?

Are you thinking of the remade version done several years back by DHT that had Edmee singing? I know she did a accoustic piano one of it, too.

I just heard a song called "Why am I the One" by Some Nights. The chorus of this song Sounds so familiar...maybe a song from the 80s? It's driving me insane! Anyone have any idea of what song it sounds like?

Sorry, but that song was painful. It sounds like the "hey, hey what's going on" song to me. I hated that one too. I need to cleanse my palette with some Calexico now.
