In memory of Mike Nesmith, here's a 1967 performance by the Monkees of "Riu Chiu", a 16th century Spanish Christmas song. They do it a cappella, and beautifully. My favorite Christmas song! I NEVER hear it on the all Christmas all the time radio station

I will be eternally grateful for a former supervisor who recommended this gem of a Christmas rock song: The Kinks - “Father Christmas”. Also, thanks for those who have suggested some more obscure Christmas songs in this thread, the holiday season would be more tolerable with less crappy music!

I feel like I don't here enough Christmas music each year. The only place I listen to music is in my car, and I keep forgetting to look for the Christmas station. I always listen to the local hip hop station, and the only Christmas song they play with any regularity is Chris Brown's cover of "This Christmas." And then around Dec. 22 or 23, they usually add in Mariah's classic (Which I LOVE!!), Run DMC's "Christmastime in Hollis Queens and the Temptations' version of "Silent Night," which is wonderful.
ETA: I totally forgot I had downloaded Spotify on my phone to watch a podcast earlier this year. I'm in Christmas music heaven now!

I LOVE the original by Donny Hathaway!

I NEVER hear it on the all Christmas all the time radio station I remember when my beloved choir director in high school decided to give that one to the Madrigals in 1980. He tossed that sheet music to us--the guys took it and began to look over it; the girls started squeeing..."OMG REMEMBER WHEN THE MONKEES SANG THIS???!!!" Choir director looked over at me and winked--unbeknownst to me, he'd called my dad (former choir director and hoarder of boxes full of sheet music) to ask if he had that one, and Daddy sent me to school with it the next morning. CD made what I'm sure were illegal copies for us to use in rehearsal...

Because this makes me smile.I created a Christmas playlist, amd my mom suggested “Mary, Did You Know?” on it. I then dropped the truth bomb that Mary was between 12 to 16 years old when she was impregnated, so her agency is really questionable. My mom always assumed she was in her twenties.
