I LOVE Snow Patrol. I hate that I've never seen them live. I have so many favorite songs of theirs, but my ultimate favorite is "Just Say Yes" Anytime I have difficulty deciding on something (or someone) even though I know I should say yes, but fear just holds me back, I always go and listen to this song to get the nerve to just dive right in.

The best advice in that song: It's so simple and you know it is. You know it is.

It's my favorite line of the song too! I always feel like he's talking right to me when he sings that part of the song.

I love them too, with "Spitting Games" being my favorite song of theirs (one of my favorite songs ever). Love "Chocolate" too, which I must mention because I just randomly heard it played at a bookstore. I did get a chance to see them live some years back, luckily enough!

I think "Set Fire to the Third Bar" is awesome.

No matter how many times I listen to it, I will never get tired of Ashford and Simpson's Solid, despite a high school bully who'd go around singing "Solid as my cock" to a poor girl who was the target of every bully. I still despise that bully (yep, he grew up to be a huge jerk) but I still love this song!

I wasn't sure where to put this, but since it really was a GREAT performance of a GREAT song here it is: Remember that completely amazing performance of While My Guitar Gently Weeps by Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Prince (and some other guys but whatever)? The one where Prince jumps in about halfway through and slaps down a tutorial on Stage Presence, Performance and Musicianship? Then just walks off stage at the end like 'my work here is done'? Right before he leaves the stage he tosses his guitar up and nobody knew where it went? Mystery solved. And for anyone who hasn't seen it, you should DEFINITELY watch the performance. It is outstanding.

Great story, thanks for sharing that! It was one of the best performances of anyone, ever. That whole band was outstanding. I especially loved the look on Dhani's face when he watched Prince. He was as blown away as the rest of us.

On my way in to work this morning Yacht Rock gifted me with Year of the Cat. The first verse is still one of the most outstanding examples of imagery I can think of in songwriting.
On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running Like a watercolor in the rain Don't bother asking for explanations She'll just tell you that she came In the year of the cat
I can SEE all this in my head. And unlike Rush's Bytor and the Snow Dog, I don't have to be high as a kite to see it.
