I'm just watching a local TV music show, with the Top 40 WORST music videos as voted by the watchers....and my goodness, Total Eclipse of the Heart is an interesting video...
Theres NINJAS in it. No, really, NINJAS. And theyre only up to number 20 on the countdown.
Micheal Jacksons horrific 'You are not alone' was in the 30's...Ive seen enough CEMJ chest to last a lifetime.

I made the mistake of watching part of CMT's list of Top 100 Country Videos. What? I was sick.
#2 was "Independence Day" by Martina McBride, but #1 was "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. Oh, come on. Am I the only person who doesn't get the whole Johnny Cash thing? Jeez.

I love Johnny Cash, but I don't consider a NIN cover country, even when covered by him. That's stupid, and I'm sure there were far more worthy videos to pick.

footballerswife, I don't know who that is, but I love your avatar.
And yes, there were other, more worthy videos to pick. I know this and I'm not even a country fan.

Oh wow, YES! Bonnie Tyler: Total Eclipse of the Heart. So bizarre, awesome and hilarious at the same time. Yesterday I watched this video for the first time in my whole life and I've never seen anything like it. What the HELL is going on there? What's with the football players? The men's eyes? The zombie choir? A total WTF experience but oh, I love it already! And of course, fantastic song!

Micheal Jacksons horrific 'You are not alone' was in the 30's...Ive seen enough CEMJ chest to last a lifetime. And the swimnysts! Seriously, there's swimmers ... who start doing gymnastics?! That was just really weird - there's the whole schoolteacher / student romance hint as well. The Michael Jackson one was truly horrifying. His torso was just all pale and plasticky and I thought if they went any further it'd be like an anatomically incorrect Ken Doll. URGH. It annoys me how any top video show has videos that really shouldn't be there, though - the station's picks, ones where people vote best video where they mean best song and vice versa. Still, it means I get to see "Ice Ice Baby" a lot and wonder how on earth it was ever so huge. The nineties have a lot to answer for.

Total Eclipse of the Heart has long been one of my guilty pleasures. The video has always been one of the stranger ones, but back then lots of videos were really weird, so we just got kind of used to it, I think.
Does MTV actually show videos anymore? I mean other than TRL, which I gather is often just snippets of videos anyway. Now that we've got the internet, is that how most people see videos these days? I'm old enough to remember MTV when it first started, particularly since we were lucky enough to be in one of the markets that got it fairly early on. I used to just turn the Mtv on and treat it like the radio -- doing stuff until something I really liked came on, then I'd stop and pay attention. Nothing but videos for hours at a time! It was wonderful![/crotchety old woman rant]

Alright, tell me what you all think of this music video. It is an Australian DJ named Craig Obey. It is a remix of the Church's 'Under the Milkyway' and the clip is a cartoon: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Upra4XEMj1I
