I like "Lighting Crashes" by Live. It's a big guilty pleasure.
To me, '90s music is totally divided. The first half-Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Hole, Smashing Pumpkins, etc-of the '90s was great. The second half-Britney Spears, N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, etc-sucked ass.

I saw Digable Planets last summer and they were great. I still listen to Blackalicious, Lyrics Born, KRS-ONE and X-clan. Hip hop was a whole heck of a lot better in the late 80s and 90s than now. So was most music for that matter

I've been listening to Guru's Jazzamatazz, Vol. 1, and King Bee's "Back by Dope Demand" nearly nonstop for the past few days.
I agree with you here that the late 80s and early 90s had some really great music.

Digable Planets were awesome. I love early 90's hip hop.

Love Digable Planets! They're one that has never quite been relegated to the depths of my CD stacks. I still pull them out to listen to on a regular basis.
Another '90s favorite is Basehead, particularly the Play With Toys album.

I feel this way, but flip-flopped. I hated most 90s music unil the barrage of sparkly Spice Girls-led pop and boybands came along!

I was a teen/ early 20s on the west coast of the US in that time period and it was awesome. Good music everywhere you went, awesome festivals, cheap tickets, great radio stations, tons of all ages venues, great scene, huge mix of styles on the same bills: Public Enemy/ Sugarcubes/ U2; Rage/ Wu-Tang; Blink 182/ Madness; L7/ George Clinton/ Beasties/ Breeders; No Doubt/ Sublime; Fiona Apple/ Beck/ Tor Amos. Lilith Faire, the early Warped tours which were like $10 or something. We had no idea how lucky we were.
Hearing Nickelback on the radio was about when I realized it was all over.

Someone brought Adam Ant up in the Gwen Stefani thread, and it reminded me how much I love this song from 1995: Wonderful[/color]

Wonderful! When that song came out, this guy I was dating put it on a mix tape, yes tape, he made for me. I still think of him whenever I hear it.
