Shanmac, as I said above, my dad & I danced to "My Girl" by The Temptations. Here is one list. Here is another.I would think "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder would be sweet since he really did write it for his daughter. "Baby Baby" by Amy Grant was also written for her daughter, but that would be awkward to dance to.

Hee, I was just coming back to edit my post to say I'm considering "My Girl." I remember dancing with my dad to that at a high school father/daughter dance. He was supposed to be dancing with my sister, but she wandered off, so he asked me to dance with him again. For some reason, that memory is really vivid for me. Those are great lists, Ripley -- thank you!
ETA: OK, so I'm going over the suggested list of songs from my DJ, and ... ack. OK, some of the songs are fine, but some are just no-gos (no, for the love of God, "Every Breath You Take" is not a love song! Do not play it as a slow dance!).
All I want to hear is some Sinatra, etc., during dinner (I love my Frankie and Dino, what can I say?), some fun 80s pop (and yes, plenty of Duran Duran, Dwan) for dancing, and that's about it. No country. None. Whatsoever. Or I will be very upset, because country makes me want to rip my ears off. And I would like to hear some U2. I loves me some Bono.
Speaking of which, I'm thinking about walking into the reception to "City of Blinding Lights." Cheesy? Good idea? What do y'all think?

Shanmac, I like that idea, but don't go by me. I eloped. ;D
(meaning, what would I know about wedding receptions?)

Mr.O and I got married right after my dad finished putting me through grad school, so our Father/Daughter song was "To Sir, With Love"...it seemed fitting, and I still get weepy when I hear it.

If I ever do end up getting married to the love of my life I want to dance to Sweet Baby by Macy Gray. It just describes what our whole situation has been like.
If I marry someone else, I really like Lovers Rock by Sade and Crazy Love by Van Morrison.

My friend and her husband danced to Adam Sandler's, "I Wanna Grow Old with You," from The Wedding Singer. It was hysterically sweet.

I was at a wedding yesterday. The couple's wedding song was "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

Ah, The Luckiest by Ben Folds was my choice for a wedding song too. Its just such a sweet song. My husband didn't agree so we used "Someone like you" by Van Morrison.

I went to a wedding on Saturday and they danced to "Happy Everafter in Your Eyes" by Ben Harper. It made my eyes water because Ben Harper actually wrote that song as a favor to Heath Ledger, because Heath called him and asked him to write a lullaby for Matilda. But it is a great song and it could definitly be interpreted as a couple's love song, because it IS that, just between a father and daughter.

Since this thread jumped to page one, I'll contribute:
Our processional was to "O Mio Babbino Caro" by Kiri te Kanawa (chosen by me, because of "Room With a View"sentiments). Recessional was to "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes (chosen by Mr. Wol, who digs the Ronettes and because I couldn't use "I Do, I Do, I do..." by ABBA after they used it in "Muriel's Wedding"). We were introduced to the Imperial March. For our first dance we recreated the John Travolta/Uma Thurman dance number from Pulp Fiction to "You Never Can Tell" by Chuck Berry. We wanted to do it for fun because we're lame pop culture junkies like that, and it just so happened that the lyrics actually fit, at least for us. Our awesome videographer actually watched the movie and tried to reacreate some of the camera movements. It was rather brilliant, if I say so myself.
