True confession time. If I ever get married, it would be my fantasy to hire The Cure to play, even if I could only afford to have like 10 wedding guests there. Floating across the floor to "Plainsong", or "The Same Deep Water as You" would just be the height of romance. I read online once about a wedding that used "Plainsong" as the processional music, which is just about the most romantic thing EVER, if you are me, anyway.

iceblink, I just have to ask you: is your name in reference to the Cocteau Twins' song "Iceblink Luck"? Because if it is, I think I love you.

Yeppers! I'd about run out of things to make user names and passwords from, then I realized the Cocteaus' entire back catalog had a wealth of options. Bless them!

My favorite Depeche Mode songs (they are mostly from Violater, though).
1. World In My Eyes - This song couldn't get any sexier. The beat just thrusts and pulsates its way through. 2. Policy Of Truth 3. Enjoy The Silence 4. Personal Jesus 5. People Are People 6. Master And Servant 7. Everything Counts
As for favorite new wave songs
1. Kim Wilde - View From A Bridge - She finds out her boyfriend is cheating and she commits suicide at the end. 2. The Cure - Lovesong - Incredibly romantic 3. Duran Duran - Notorious - It's just outright fun and I love the gasps. 4. *Go-Go's - This Town - Dwan, I gotta agree with you on this song. The "we're all dreamers/we're all whores" lyric is my favorite. Its so cynical and has a put on snobbiness (that is obviously for show) that I love. 5. Blondie - Atomic

(Though, Carrier76: "Temptation"?!? Argh! Get out of my head!) Let's just say that, last week-end, I listened to Berlin and the B-52's (both "Greatest Hits" compilations).

carrier, WRONG! Clearly the best OMD song is "Electricity." ;D And iceblink, THTM used to joke during our wedding planning that he wanted his own processional to Plainsong. Of course, anything after that would've been anticlimactic.
Fucking LOVE Ultravox... "Hymn," "All Stood Still," "Reap the Wild Wind".... And also, I can confess here that I would happily NEVER hear "You Spin Me 'Round" ever ever again, but that I totally dig "Lover Come Back"!
TOTALLY! I also hate "How Soon is Now" but love so many other Smiths' songs.

Whoa, freaky, I love "How Soon Is Now" but most other Smiths songs make me cringe. I think they sound so great and then Morrissey starts singing and my ears, the bleeding! And I've always said I want the intro to "Fascination Street" played as my personal entrance music everywhere where I go.

Iceblink! You hug me with one hand and wound me with the other. You love the Cocteaus but Morrissey makes your ears bleed? But...but...he's my pretend probably-gay rockstar boyfriend! I even liked Kill Uncle for Pete's sake. One of my favorite Smiths songs is definitely "Shoplifters of the World Unite" (see the photo of the shirt I made upthread). It's the song that got me into the band in the first place, and still one of their best, IMO. Ok, so they aren't technically New Wave, but they're alternative. And as Dwan pointed out New Wave WAS alternative back in the day, so....The Smiths totally count. In large amounts.
ETA: My friends and I have a theory that the burning hatred that Robert Smith and Morrissey have for each other is really just repressed love and sexual tension. We've made up a whole alternate universe in which they secretly pine for each other but simply CAN'T admit their feelings, and so they feud. Ah, l'amour.

*whispers* I read Robert Smith/Morrissey slash once and was a little scarred afterwards.
I actually do enjoy some of the Smiths' singles but I've never been able to get into them beyond that. And I have tried! I'm just...lacking the Smiths gene. Maybe it's like being lactose-intolerant. This thread has gotten "Space Age Love Song" stuck in my head like CRAZY.
