My favorite is the acoustic version of "Umbrella" by...some chick who has a pretty voice that isn't as nasal as Rhianna's.

I also really love Rufus Wainwright's cover of "Hallelujah."

Marie Digby. She does a lot of great covers and can all be found on YouTube.

I also love Mandy Moore's version better than Rihanna's.

Best Cover Of All Time By Someone You've Heard Of: Richie Haven's version of "Here Comes the Sun" at Woodstock. (No, I wasn't there.)

Best Cover Of All Time By Someone You've Never Heard Of: I was in a packed pub in Islington the summer of 1977, just up the road from the youth hostel I was staying in. The Mike Sahn Band was playing. They launched into a reggae version of "Knocking On Heaven's Door" which completely blew me away and stuck with me for the last 30 years.

I think my absolute favourite is Sarah Slean covering Radiohead's "Climbing Up the Walls." It's one of the hidden tracks from her first EP from 1997, and it is amazing.
