...and thanks to the recommendation of another Greecie, Sturgill Simpson's The Promise has been in heavy rotation. Oh man, let me add Sturgill Simpson's version of In Bloom to that as well!

Yessssss. I cannot believe Simpson is younger than me. He has that old-school classic country sound.

I didn't want to like it because I believe there are some bands/songs that are off limits. But I did. Well, except for the part where it made me need to pull out all my ABBA cds.

THAT is a thing of beauty! Even better than that recent cover of "Sounds if Silence."
My inner teenage-metalhead-closet-ABBA-freak is doing his happy dance right now.
TC: a metal singer I worked with in the 90s was a huge ABBA fan (girls were allowed to be). She and I tried to do a revved up version of Mama Mia on her project. Our guitars were more aggressive than Bjorn's, but otherwise it was a pretty straight remake. I got a kick out of doing it, because I had the same model mixing console ABBA used to own. Mostly it was a self indulgent chance to try recording techniques I had read about, like over dubbing vocals at wildly different tape speeds, to add that ABBA "sheen" to the harmonies.

That was an amazing ABBA cover; thank you eclair for sharing that. The next video after that was Ville Valo and Natalia Avelon doing a cover of the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood classic "Summer Wine." OMG I'm swooning......

2chellos cover AC/DC Thunderstuck!! Id like to thank the tubeofyou for recommending these guys, I'm off to to find more!! Holy air chello! whole lotta lovelive and let die with added piano by Lang Lang. I love this classical mixed rock stuff, I even have Metallica's orchestra thing somewhere so how have only just found these guysđ love it! Queen The show must go on stunning so poignant without Freddie's vocals! Queen really were Opera/Classical artists. Damn I'm tearing up a bit. Edit These guys are my new favorite thing. And then I find with or without you and its beautiful. They may have put Bono out of a job! I might be a little in love with cellos and these boys playing themđ teen spirit suits cellos!

If you like covers that take the original into a completely different direction, then I highly recommend the YouTube channel Postmodern Jukebox. The very first video I saw from this talented group was this New Orleans jazz style of Guns N' Roses "Sweet Child O' Mine". After that, I was completely hooked--so many great tunes reimagined into so many different genres.
