Woohoo! Go Steelers! *waves Terrible Towel with one hand and shakes big "we're number 1" foamy hand with the other while wearing black and gold hard hat*
I think the team is off to a pretty good start. As long as Davenport can manage to stay out of jail, we might have a chance. Miscreant or not, dude's like Juggernaut from the X-Men on offense.

OOH, Redksins have got to be THE MOST FRUSTRATING football viewing EVER. I love them. And want to beat them up with baseball bats at the same time. It is agonizing to watch them. I'm actually scared of them playing the 0-6 Cardinals Sunday because last year some team with no wins managed to beat us at home. I feel the number one problem is the playcalling by Al Saunders. I hate that Gibbs turned it over to him. I think the team has sucked since then. I also don't like Clinton Portis. I know, I'm going to be struck by lightening now. Marry me. Portis can be an awesome player, when he wants to be. It's just...damn it. Want to be!

Yeah, but for me it was painful to wave goodbye to the Bus and welcome the domestic-disturbin' Dump Truck. The Steelers are such a collection of human interest stories. You have Charlie Batch sponsoring youth sports in his hometown, Hines Ward fighting for acceptance for mixed-race kids in East Asia, Troy Polumalu keeping his religion, Willie Parker's long determined crawl to stardom--and then you get a guy known off-field chiefly for pooping where he shouldn't. I really can't watch him on the field without thinking of poop.

A FOOTBALL THREAD!! SQWEEE!! Giants fan here. Hated Tiki Barber and glad he's gone even though he did help the team. Calling out Eli and the coach was a punk bitch move. I love that Eli seems to be the complete opposite of his brother, Mr. Cool versus Mr. Intensity. I sometimes get the feeling he really doesn't want to play football. I'm stinkin' up the joint in my football pool, 3 last week and 6 this week.

I agree sugaree, I'm not a Najee fan either. I mean, he IS a good player, but seriously, he's a chump! Who does he think he's playing for, the Bengals?!? Ugh! Besides him, I love our team. I think we have a great group of guys who have integrity and real love for the game.

Yeah, I miss the Bus and I long for Antwan Randle-el to return. They are great players and decent men to boot. The Pittsburgh Steelers: in the unlikely position of bringing back the Grecian ideal of the athlete. Body, brains, and a heightened social conscience.
Once, I was watching a Monday night game, with those little studio bits with the players introducing themselves and telling what college they had played for. The Steelers were all smiling, friendly, personable, clean-cut boys-next-door. The guys are the other team were straight up sullen shift-eyed thugs. It cracked me up.

I knooooow!!! I always feel so much pride watching them play! I WISH Antwaan would return too, but there is no way. I think the Rooney's do such a great job recruting players. And how about all the unsung heroes on our team? Keisel, Aaron Smith, James Farrior and many other players that don't get the respect they deserve! I am loving our draft picks, Sepulveda, Gay Woodley, GREAT additions!
There's a GREAT article on ESPN.com about Willie Parker's childhood and why he came to be the way he is. He has a tattoo next to his heart in honor of his best friend who was killed in a drive by and he says that everytime he holds the football, his friend Marty is a part of it. It seriously made me cry!!

That's fabulous. I doubt he'll play professionally again, but he is only 24. The possibility might be there.

The Steelers overall seem like folks who have their respective acts together; even Roethlisberger got a clue after breaking a little old lady's windshield with his face! And a big "ew!" on that detail MonkeyPox...
