Good for Monfils. I don't care if it's un-American. Can't stand Roddick. Hope he never wins another major.

Heh, I can't stand Roddick either, for no good reason.
I bet Roger is wetting himself with excitement over Nadal's loss. With Andy Murray out as well, this might be his best chance at winning the French Open, I hope he manages to pull it off.

I hope so too. I don't care if people say he's only got a chance because Nadal lost. Winning the French Open (against anyone) is a huuuge deal for Roger and if this is indeed his last year as a pro I want him to win that thing and give us the full Roger treatment after the matchball (tears, laughter, more tears, adorable speech in three languages, etc.). Go Roger!!

If Roger wins, I just know some folk will say it's because Nadal isn't there.
But Nadal got his ass kicked fair and square. Simple as that. That's why he is out of the tournament. It would be different if he pulled out because of injury or something. But this year he played someone that was better then him.
I am definately Team Roger. But of course I am ALWAYS rooting for him. I don't care who he's playing.

I was a year ahead of schedule. But anyway, whoo hoo! Yay Kuzzie! She's the only female player that I like these days. She didn't go over the top after her victory out of respect for Dinara who was on the verge of a breakdown, but this picture of her during her champion's photoshoot is awesome.

I don't think Roger has given any type of indication that this will be his last year as a pro; in fact he insist that he is going to do his best to stick around at least until 2012 - Olympic tennis at Wimbledon. I have rooting for him big time, but Soderling makes me nervous.

Marat is the one who says this year will be his last. Roger's probably going to be one of those players who stays too long.
I refuse to watch the men's final tomorrow. I don't like either player and I'm not going to willingly subject myself to that. Having to choose between the two of them feels like when I used have to pick my own switch from the tree outside. Either way it's still going to hurt.

I hate myself for saying this....but all the pretty in the Safin/a family definitely went to Marat. Yes, I'll see myself out. Oh, but I hope you're all right about Roger, I didn't base my comment about him retiring on any actual information, just a gut feeling. ETA: Watching the finale at the moment. Some guy ran onto the court during the match and tried to put a flag (towel? whatever) on Roger's head. I bet those French Open security folks are just happy that he didn't have a knife with him. Crazy. Took way too long and about six men to finally catch him and take him off court.

He looked like he was carrying some kind of Spanish flag (maybe the Mallorcan flag?) and was trying to put a Spanish bullfighter's hat on Roger's head. But apparently he wore Swiss flag socks so people wouldn't suspect him and it would be easier to get to the court. Good for Roger that he didn't let it rattle him too much.
