As someone who was born in the UK I suppose I should be cheering for Murray to win but I can't bring myself to do it. First off the fact is he's Scottish not British. Secondly I saw him play in Toronto a few years ago and he was such a whiny petulant bitch I was rooting for him to get his ass kicked.
I'd rather Djokovic for the win or Federer. Failing that aimeone with a bit of a spark about them like Tsonga.

Andy Murray finally won a slam. When it went to the fifth set I thought Djokovic was going to take it.

I keep waiting for him to mature a little bit and stop with the spoiled whiny baby behavior (like Djokovic did) but it's happening far too slowly. I fear his recent wins might undo the slight progress he's made.
BTW, women's tennis? UNWATACHABLE. Azarenka and the rest of those squealers and shriekers have all but destroyed the sport. I can't watch more than 5 seconds before I have to turn it off. Some people say they are more annoyed by the commentators complaining about the shrieking, but the commentators are just trying to get the WTA to crack down and start passing anti-shrieking rules which they need to do ASAP.
And there's no point watching anyway because Serena Williams always wins. It's not Serena's fault that everybody else sucks. IMO all those other girls care about is their endorsement deals and prancing around in their pretty little tennis dresses. Nobody wants to work out to get the muscles and stamina they need to win because then they wouldn't be invited to pose in bikinis for FHM and Maxim.

As someone who was born in the UK I suppose I should be cheering for Murray to win but I can't bring myself to do it. First off the fact is he's Scottish not British. I wasn't born in the UK so I may be wrong but surely being from Scotland doesn't disqualify you from being British? I quite like Andy, tantrums and all. I was really happy for him when he won the Olympics and I hope that he'll be able to win a few more Grand Slam tournaments now. Federer, Djokovic and Nadal aren't as dominant anymore as they used to be and I don't see anyone else at the moment to challenge them, so Andy might have more chances. Oh and women's tennis really is unwatchable right now, even more than it used to be. To me, that has nothing to do with the shrieking, it's just not at an enjoyable level at the moment IMHO. Serena doesn't even have to play her best. I don't think her muscles are purely the result from working out but since tennis never was big on drug testing, I guess it's not a big deal, especially since women's tennis would be even more awful without Serena.

That really is not true for both points. Tennis players are subject to very tough and invasive drug testing procedures. They must submit at the beginning of each season where they will be throughout the season on any given date, at any time. Players can and are tested multiple times through the year. There are even stories of drug testing officials arriving in the wee hours of the morning on players' doorsteps. It was a very contentious issue amongst players because it is very invasive, and seriously infringes on the personal lives. It is because of these testing procedures, Martina Hingis and Richard Gasquet tested positive for cocaine. In regards to Serena, I just really do not like this line of thought that because she's muscular, she must be on something. First, it is not true. Serena has always been muscular and solidly built, even when she first came on tour during the early 1990s. If you have an opportunity to see her and the other tops women live, you will see that her physique is not such an anomaly. She is slender and cut, just like many other female tennis players. Second of all, the idea that she is on a performance enhancing drug really is insidious because it implies that women should not be athletic and muscular for it does not line up with traditional values on femininity. This is something Venus and Serena had to fight against when they first came on tour, and it is also something the now retired Amelie Mauresmo had deal with throughout her career. It is for this reason the WTA began the " Strong is Beautiful" campaign, to show that athleticism does not diminish women's femininity.

I'm not sure where I said that Serena's body was diminishing her femininity. I wasn't thinking or saying that at all. I'm just doubting the way she got that (in my eyes pretty cool looking) body and she's not the only one (female or male) athlete on the tennis tours where I have my doubts.

I thought it was funny when Andy Roddick talked about playing her when they were little kids. She always won because Andy was a scrawny little kid and Serena was "already bench pressing dump trucks".

Seriously, can anyone stand women's tennis with Azerenka grunting and "Whooooo" 'ing? It drives me up a wall.
Any idea what's up with Nadal? He was gone for so long because of his knee, then he mysterious bowed out with "the flu (and I know that that's totally possible, but what a lousy coincidence to get it now)".
I just want some new faces to get in there. It's getting boring with all the same people (and that f'ing "Whooooo"!).

I'm steeling myself for a retirement announcement from Rafa. Love him but he's dealt with so many injuries.
On the men's side, the same people often do make the final four, but they frequently have close calls getting there and it doesn't feel like the field has no depth, the way it does at times with the women's game. It would be fun, though, if a relative newcomer actually took the tennis world by storm and won a major a la Boris Becker at Wimbledon.

What on earth is going on in Wimbledon? Have the men decided to just hand the title over to Murray this year? ;-) Roger and Rafa have both already lost, Tsonga had to retire due to injury. If Djokovic loses too, Wimbledon will have its first male champion since 2002 (!!) whose name isn't Federer, Nadal or Djokovic. I'm definately rooting for Andy, not gonna lie.
