I've always had a soft spot for Andy, and will truly miss him play. I still vividly remember him finally winning Wimbledon in 2013. Over the years I've been so impressed by his staunch support of female athletes, and his willingness to call out sexist reporters.
He will be missed. I hope he gets to play at Wimbledon one last time.

Jesus I’m following Andy’s match on twitter if this is his last match they are going to have to carry him off court back from 2 sets down into a fifth and fighting. Cmon Andy!! Retire or carry on he is going down all guns blazingin this match I’m glad I can’t watch I’d be in bits. Aussie respect as he served to stay in the match he held for that but he is out. The fight in the man tho I hope he can give Wimbledon a go!

Big Andy fan here. Very saddened by this news, but not terribly surprised. I look forward to see what he does after his retirement. I go back and forth over the idea that Andy should coach Kyrgios. Andy seems to be the one person Nick would actually listen to, and if he did, Nick could be the best in men’s tennis. But I could also see Nick frustrating Andy by not working as hard as Andy has. Hell, if Nick just TRIED on his own, he could be the best in men's tennis. Unfortunately, his issues are all in his own mind and attitude and I don't know if anyone can break through until/unless he decides to change. If I were Andy, forced into retirement due to issues outside of my control, it would drive me bananas to watch such a naturally gifted young guy waste his talents the way Kyrgios does. I watched his match against Raonic and he could not have been more obvious about not trying. He got aced 3 times in a row by not even moving for the ball and 0-40, he literally started walking off the court while the ball was still in the air and had to come back when it ended up clipping the net. Way to make it obvious that you weren't going to bother to try to return it. So far, the entire first round of the Australian Open has been fairly predictable, no huge upsets. I felt SO sorry for the young Polish qualifier who took 2 sets off Nishikori and then got so overcome with cramps that he had to retire the match after suffering through 2 1/2 more sets while barely able to move. I was really rooting for him to get through it, it would mean so much more for someone like him to get a round or two.

I meant to post about this earlier. I am so freaking sad, honestly. It's no secret that I'm a huge Andy fan and have cried and cheered with him over the years, and to see him having to give up on the sport he loves so much, breaks my heart. I saw Delpo's message to him and he's one who truly knows how your body can just fucking give up on you. I feel so sorry for Andy that he can't end his career on his own terms. I'm pretty sure he would have played a few more years so this is just devastating.

Again only following along via the internet Federer Out of Aussie OpenSounds like a good match, Congrats Tsitspas. Naomi Osaka wins Aussie Open and I’m delighted for her especially after all the stuff that overshadowed her US Open win, back to back slams, she means business.

I’m watching Wimbledon in May!! Pat Cash, Layton Hewitt ,Jamie Murray and my actual exact birthday day and year twin Goran Ivanisivic playing doubles and It’s all good fun.New Number One court with a roof Opening Celebration being televised. There will also be Martina, Venus and Kim I think and some mixed doubles later I think McEnroe will be involved. It’s all a lot of fun and nice way to waste a Sunday. Gorans Wimbledon final and win is my favorite match ever. Pat Cash has been a Grandad since 2010! Some lovely tennis from Venus and Kim Next up Mixed Doubles Jamie Murray and Martina Navratilova v Kim Clijsters and McEnroe I’m enjoying all this and the New No1 court looks amazing. Kim Clijsters played the Centre Court roof opening thing and made a come back to pro circuit after, she is playing some brilliant stuff again this time she could be still playing pro. Approx Combine Age= 190, Quality from Martina, Mc, Kim and Jamie. esp Martina.

I wasn’t going to start watching Wimbledon on day one, stuff to do, but no thought I’ll just watch Naomi Osaka and she’s in trouble against Yulia Putintseva who is now serving for the match. Osaka out! I might still get stuff done. Sod it im not getting anything done this match has just started 15 year old Cori Gauff youngest qualifier faces her idol Venus WilliamsEdit Nothing confirmed yet but rumor of a Andy Murray/Serena Williams mixed doubles partnership is going around. Now I’d watch that. Editre Venus v Cori Gauff, 15 year old Guaff serving for the match, Venus not going out without a fight tho. Gauff wins after 4th match point Wow! Wow! She got a wild card to the qualifiers and then qualified for the main draw to face Venus just Wow straights sets. Cori Gauff one to watch. Incredible.

Edit Nothing confirmed yet but rumor of a Andy Murray/Serena Williams mixed doubles partnership is going around. Now I’d watch that. It's now confirmed, they are playing mixed together. That should be interesting, I'm not sure if I think it'll be a good partnership (haven't seen either of them play mixed all that much), but it's a publicist's dream, for sure! I'm sure the tournament people are beside themselves with excitement at the thought of the ticket sales for that pairing. Sharapova pulled the ultimate dick move today, retiring a match at 6-4, 6-7, 0-5. Retiring one game before getting bageled just takes the win away from the opponent and makes you look like a petty, poor sport. Tennis elbow sucks, but it's not the kind of thing that requires an instant quit, it's not an acute injury.

Nadal v Kyrgios is intriguing it seems fairly even one set all games in third going with serve, now I don’t like Kyrgios much so I’m leaning towards Nadal but something about the match could see an upset I think. There could be some drama!
Now see me be proven totally wrong.
Edit Yay! Andy Murray on Court Number One in men’s doubles match, Good to to have him back.
Edit —— Friday, extraordinary 2nd set from Cori Coco Gauff just now to stay in the match against Polona Hercog, not sure how it will end tho. Next match after this one I think will be Andy/ Serena mixed match.
Eta 2 Murray and Williams won’t play today Gauff v Hercog still going still extraordinary game. That was incredible match to witness
EditFriday 12th Time traveling watching Rafa v Roger at Wimbledon is it 2008! Nope it’s 11 years since they played each other here Roger ahead at the minute a never know. Before this ends I gotta say I’d watch these two forever. Love both of them. Thank you lads for all the magic!
Holy tennis balls lads! I need to breathe! These last points are holy hell! I didn’t see the whole match just as well I’d have capsized!
These two bring the best out in eahother. Congrats Roger. 12th Wimbledon Final for Roger and I’m not bored yet. I don’t mean nd who wins in the final (says she today) I like Novak too. Just really think as fans watching Roger Rafa and Serena still playing all these years is brilliant. Now if Andy was in contention again it be a total diff story.
Onwards to the Finals.

I'm bummed Serena and Andy lost, but happy that Serena is in the final, and thrilled to see Novak and Roger go at it again. I'm hoping for epic finals.
