There had been mention of up to 7 years in jail. ( not sure if I read that or heard it hopping in and out of car earlier so I was surprised at 2 and half years.

Wimbledon has been a bit blah so far.
Kyrgios v Tsitsipas is making up for it. Code violations for both. Underarm and leg serves. Kyrgios being Kyrgios.
Now Nick down injured no he seems ok.
And some decent shots of tennis in between.
2 to 1 to Nick so far.

Nadal has withdrawn from Wimbledon due to an abdominal tear.

Can't imagine how Taylor Fritz felt when he heard the news. I understand that for Rafa to make the decision he needed a full medical evaluation - that knowing it is a tear played a big part in the decision. But I really feel for Fritz. There was a moment in the press conference where Rafa commented on how he won yesterday despite the injury that came across like he had no thought other than himself. It has to be that way to have the success he has ... but it rubbed me the wrong way.

I’m devastated for Rafa but also Wimbledon, Kyrgios gets a by into the Final and I have pin my hopes on Norrie getting past Novak or it will be a final between the current 2 most disliked players in the game.
I also feel for Fritz too I guess it’s that ruthless determination that has got Rafa all his titles to date.
It would really be worse if Rafa played the semi and as he said he couldn’t play 2 matches and then result in no Final and a champion by way of a walk over.
Edit Congrats Ons Jabuer the first Arab woman in a grand slam final. Also Elena Rybakina this is first for Kazakhstan too.
Ons cheered for her good friend and opponent Tatiana Maria after their match today, they are close, Maria recently returned her youngest is a year old she has 2 children and at 34 her best run at a slam. It was a very lovely moment and made my eyes a bit leaky.

There was a moment in the press conference where Rafa commented on how he won yesterday despite the injury that came across like he had no thought other than himself. It has to be that way to have the success he has ... but it rubbed me the wrong way. Yeah, I couldn't help feeling the same way. Even 5 minutes after the match, Nadal was already hinting that he may not be able to play, it seemed like he wanted to prove to himself that he could win the Fritz match but was aware he wouldn't be going further. There's nothing technically wrong with it, he didn't owe it to Fritz to give him the win, and yet I can't help feeling bad for Fritz. And it sucks for the tournament to have a giant hole in the schedule this deep into the draw. The men's doubles semis yesterday were my favorites matches so far, 2 come from behind victories in 5 sets and great tennis all the way through. Although I felt a little bad for Sam Stosur, I'm sure the grueling 5-set match Ebden had to play before their mixed doubles final had an impact on the outcome there.

One of the perks of the Nadal news is that it's put more doubles on US TV, and I've loved that!

So Novak v Kyrgios final, not bothered who wins now. I’m in too minds it shouldn’t be boring but it could end up been a one sided thing too. I want a five setter with a bit of chaotic drama thrown in for good measure. Edit Congrats Elena Rybakina on her win I was rooting for Ons but either way new Ladies Champion. Edit Congrats Novak. 4 in a row. 7 in all. And GoodBye Sue Barker BBC presenter extraordinare who steps away from the helm after 30 years. John McEnroe instigated cheers and then Standing Ovation last Sunday at the Centre Court centenary and voiced a lovely send off clip show. He also joked daily if she would stay on. He is genuinely going to miss her. I’m going to miss her too, her cool, calm knowledgeable presenting and interviews on court. I don’t know who will replace her but they have some shoes to fill.

I think he should have been honest with himself and admitted that he retired a while ago.
