BoroKat, have you heard the rumors that the Texas defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, is being courted for the Tennessee job? Will's already the heir presumptive to Mack Brown--I think it's in his contract--but there will be rioting in the streets here if he decides to bolt for Tennessee.
I suspect that Muschamp's wife will be leading the rioters--they live near us and Will has said that his wife is very happy with the neighborhood and schools and Does. Not. Want. to move.

I have, Diva. Apparently he is first choice although a lot of names are being tossed around, including an assistant coach at Duke who is MrB's fave. I honestly do not have a preference beyond someone who has been doing this for awhile, is classy, has a good track record and can restore TN to glory. Someone like.....hey, Phil Fulmer!

Never should have forced Fulmer out in the first place. The Great Pumpkin (bwah!) was doing fine. Every program has a down year (sniff...), but that doesn't mean you throw away all that experience & success for a relative unknown. I'd love to see Fulmer come back as AD.

This was in Thursday's Austin American-Statesman: That's a terrific idea! I'm sure there are plenty of students... Gotta rethink that after the rioting. They might have burned those suckers. Can't believe a Dooley is going to coach the Vols. How weird is that going to be for Vince to be sitting in his box watching his son coach against the Dogs.

I am very meh about this new coach. I would have liked someone with a name and a lot of experience- an elder statesmen type of coach. But this idiot AD won't let anyone bring their team in so no one would accept the job. This guy's record does not fill me confidence.

The Conference Courtship Dance is turning into a real soap opera. Pac-10 may take 2 teams (Colorado and...what was it...Utah?) The Big 10 But Really 11 might snap up Mizzou and Nebraska. So where does that leave the Big 12? Not to worry, the Pac-10 may turn into the Pac-16. Missouri and Nebraska might have a deadline to declare their undying love for the Big 12. How does all this benefit the Texas schools, which is what's really important?
Stay tuned . . .

They must need a punching bag something awful. (I love Baylor, but bless their hearts, they've never been the most consistent or the winningest football team around. In baseball, though--that's another matter...) ETA: Colorado's gone over to the Pac-10. Whaddya think, Duke?

It's all about the Benjamins and I don't give a rat's patootie about that end of it, I don't go to games so I don't care that the away games will be further away. The Buffs can lose to the better Pac-10 teams just as badly as they were losing to the better Big 12 teams but they might get more exposure in a bigger TV market and that might help recruiting? I dunno. Maybe the change will get the team & coaches fired up.
Cutting to the chase, I was hoping they would get the invite if for no other reason than it would be a big "Nyah Nyah Nyah" to the Baylor folks who were bad-mouthing us.
I think this is just the first of many dominoes to fall, though. I didn't figure there'd be much left of the Big 12 after the feeding frenzy, anyway. We may have dodged a bullet.
ETA: Fewer & bigger conferences = college football tournament?
