Did anybody see the segment on Bryant Gumbel's show on HBO about the guy who donated $165 million to Oklahoma's athletic department? I'm pretty clueless outside of the Big 10 so maybe it was an old rerun, but it was incredibly annoying. I didn't give a crap about that team one way or the other before, but now I'd cheer against them just because of it. A college football program is not the same as the Yankees--you can't buy a team. I hope the NCAA is watching them like hawks. Are you sure that wasn't Oklahoma State? 'Cause T. Boone Pickens donated about that much to OSU and he's got his name on the new stadium and everything. The NCAA fined and penalized Oklahoma numerous times during the Switzer Era for recruitment violations and illegal payments and services to players--that's why there were so many jokes about them. They're lucky they still have a football program--SMU got the death penalty (one year's suspension from NCAA play, no recruitment, no scholarships, nada) in 1987 for similar infractions and the program has never recovered.

HAHAHAHAHA. I thought about rushing for about five seconds. Then the girl who I was sharing a suite with at SMSU rushed and pledged, and all of a sudden her whole universe was her sorority, and I thought it was a little silly. It's like, you're taking an interest in this WHY? I don't know. I need a bigger reason to get obsessed with something. Like, Scott Rolen = Cardinals baseball, for example. Okay, it was the other way around. (But if he gets traded I'll be the girl sitting outside Busch with a sign ALL YEAR. Ha.)

Yep, it was Oklahoma State and that Pickens guy. I was about to write OSU, but since I didn't want anyone to think I was talking about Ohio State.

I'm glad my school didn't have sororities, all we had was snobby Chicago Catholics who were too stupid to get into Loyola or ND. I've gotta go with Mizzou myself, just becuase I enjoy saying Mizzou.

Well, I was about to say au revoir to Les, but now I don't know. Looks like he might be staying after all... Yep, he's staying. And to be honest, I am not sure how I feel about it. I guess I'm happy. Well, anyway... Geaux Tigers! ETA: Whooooop! I knew I would be drinking tonight one way or the other! Looks like I'll be a happy drunk! ;D

Screwy screwy day in college football today. The no. 1 and conceivably the no. 2 teams go down. This has been such a topsy turvy season. It's mind boggling.

Screwy screwy day in college football today. The no. 1 and conceivably the no. 2 teams go down. This has been such a topsy turvy season. It's mind boggling. Yes, what a season it's been! I think I was the only Greecie cheering for Oklahoma today because I knew that there was a 99.9% chance that West Virginia would win over Pitt. While I was okay with either team losing, I don't know how I feel now about both teams losing since the BCS is going to be absolute chaos tomorrow. We really need a play-off, so hopefully all the conferences arguing over which two teams should play tomorrow will lead there eventually. (Of course, they make so much money that maybe they won't raise much hell over it.) It's really unfair to smaller conferences because Hawaii should be there if they win tonight, and Boise State probably should have been there last year, at least going by their record. So it will be two years in a row, (maybe depending on the Hawaii-Washington game), that the WAC conference has gotten screwed. I know right now they're happy to get in any BCS bowl game, but I hope pretty soon, the smaller conferences make a stink about only getting the crumbs, and then having to go undefeated just to get those crumbs.

Oh dear. It is not going to be pretty for the Big 10 in the bowls this year.
