Heh. The movie is called White Palace. Though I bet White Castle is responsible for some of the pudge. Heheheh. "White Castle"... Ooops. Guess it's been a while. It's not the best film but it's sexxxxxxxxxy. Or, to be more specific, HE is! But even apart from the love scenes, I think he manages to give a very strong performance conveying his loneliness and pain.

I think he was in some stupid teen movie about a guy who builds a robot and Spader is the "cool guy" who mocks it. In the prom scene he pooh-poohs the robot, saying, "Robot, my behind". And the robot goes for his behind!!! I still say Robot My Behind to express disdain for anything.

He gets better with age. As Steff in PiP he was cute, but on Boston Legal, he's rocket-hot.

I like him as an actor, but he looks exactly like my dad, except my dad's thinner. Therefore, I cannot watch most of his movies, because seeing my father's identical twin be a sexy pervert is just gross.

Probably the biggest name celebrity I have ever interacted with. His sister and my sister were next door neighbors in suburban New Jersey. I met him overs backyard barbeques and beers. He did not exude any sexually perverse vibes but then he was at his sister's place.
But then I guess that is why they call it acting.

Hey, TheJakes, that's pretty awesome! Of course I don't consider James Spader to be a pervert in real life. He's just so good at playing deviants! If you don't mind, would you tell us a little more about meeting him? What he was like, and such? I always love to hear stories like that. ;o)

Did everyone forget Sex Lies and Videotape? That's my favorite Spader movie. Very hot there.
And Storyville -- my first date with Mr. Sunnyhorse.

Listened in on a converstation with his brother-in-law (I think that is who it was) who was a producer for A&E about the Biography series. David Cronenberg is not a freak in real life - just on film. Which I guess might also be said about James Spader. His sister is active in the Episcople Church but I don't know about him. Given his body of work it would not surprise me if he is just expressing his repressed "Episcoplianist" upbringing.

I kind of liked him until I read he dumped his first wife for a younger model.
That's Hollywood for ya!
