I re-watched Stargate the other day. His Daniel is such a wonderful ubergeek, I love that character! I read somewhere that they're considering doing a sequel to the movie. I think that has the potential to be really good, as both James Spader and Kurt Russell said they would be interested in returning.

That would be awesome! I have never gotten into the show, but I will sit down and watch the movie anytime it is on.

Are there any Boston Legal fans here? I'm surprised JS was passed over for a Golden Globe this year. His speech to Denny about friendship a few episodes ago was pitch-perfect. Theirs is the best friendship on television.

When I think of James Spader, the movie Mannequin comes to mind. (Yes, I had to look it up on imdb just to make sure it was really him!)

Another Boston Legal fan. And I only watch it for JS. Well, OK, a little Denny Crane.
I am not surprised he wasn't nominated for a GG. Foreign Press goes after the glory guys, which Spader is not. He strikes me as very thoughtful in interviews.

Spader has the best interviews! Especially if he's on a show like Conan O'Brien, where everyone's allowed to be a little kooky. ;o)

Hi, newbie here, so please be kind. I have been reading through old threads and trying to get the feel of the landscape, and this looks like a really fun place!
I could not agree more with what has been said on this thread re his stellar acting ability. As for PiP, Andie was smarter than me, because I would've knowingly fallen for it and gotten my heart broken. Sure, I loathed Steff, and yet I still wanted him. Best high school jerk ever! And, with apologies to the great thespian that is Billy Zabka, this is the difference between a one-dimensional villian and one with substance.
Please tell me someone here has seen Tuff Turf! That is actually the first movie Spader and Robert Downey, Jr. were in together, circa 1985. I think LTZ came out in 1987. RDJ was even credited without the "Jr."
In Tuff Turf , Spader plays a teen who just moved to the Valley from Connecticut and has basically gone from riches to rags after his Dad loses the company, so now he has to deal with "tuff" guys. Further fleshing out the preppy to poor backstory is that his name is Morgan and he now wears a black pleather jacket. Anyway, Downey, Jr. befriends Spader, who falls in love Kim Richards. She's a "tuff" girl whose jealous gang-leader boyfriend wants to beat Spader up. It's all very R & J/West Side Story. It's the movie that made my Mom and I fall in love with Spader, despite the cheese factor.
Jim Carroll also has a cameo, singing "People Who Died" at a party in a warehouse. Oh, and Kim Richards has what was quite possibly the longest hair in her career! And it's crimped down to her butt. What more could you ask for?
It may be hard to find, but it is totally Cult Classic Cheese.
I swear, I don't usually sound this fangirly in my posts, but I promise all my posts won't be this long or dorked out!
