You're welcome. Anne is apparently the hardest working royal, but also super low-key. That story was amazing. I know that they're trained from birth to be cool under pressure, but goodness! Watching people being shot, being pulled out of a car by an armed gunman, and she's all, "I think not!" Hilarious! And the, "That's a liberty!" line? I cannot. I'd love to see that re-enactment.

And I agree about the Vogue cover. Stunningly glamorous.

Thanks for posting this babycakes. I knew the story, but I’d forgotten just how much of a ninja-Brit Princess Anne was (BLOODY LIKELY!), and some of the other great details! I’d also forgotten how beautiful she was.

For me, I think I wrote Anne's looks off because of her hair. I became aware of her in the 80s. So my first thought, especially in that interview Roisin45 posted, is that Anne looks like she has old-lady hair. She was only in her mid-30s, but she looks so much older. I just want to pull her hair back into a tight ponytail, or straighten it and part it on the side!

But then, when I look at photos from the early 70s, I think she's gorgeous.

Back on topic... that interview... talk about stiff upper lip. Very un-Leo!

Yes, she followed in her mother's footsteps and frumped herself up a little too early in life. But again, it plays into the Fug Girls narrative that she wants a serious demeanor/look because she's got murders to solve! So I'm okay with it.

I hope The Crown gets to this event and that they cast a super-badass actress to play Anne. I think season three covers 1964-70, so it will have to happen in season four, which is going to cover 1971-76.

She really was quite striking when she was younger (and yes - these pics show how much Philip and Harry look alike from certain angles). I also like the pic of Anne as a small child giving attitude to the photographer, the final pic of the Queen and her dogs, and Diana, learning how to fish from a groundskeeper. That pic just seems to sum up so much of her royal experience - taught this thing, that is a past time for the family and not something that interests her AT ALL (clear on her face. She's totally thinking, "Yeeeaaaah...no."), and it is just some groundskeeper teaching her, not her husband or other family member as a bonding opportunity.
