The old thread was getting pretty big and news of a divorce would've sent it into self-destruct mode, so start over here.

Okay, answering to bonsai in the earlier thread: I agree that there's no reason (except self-defense) to hit a spouse -- or anyone for that matter. However, I think Madonna is so sexually strange that she puts herself in potentially abusive situations. I dunno, maybe it takes a lot to excite her and physical danger is titillating to her...? Agreed on the whole 'no reason to hit a spouse' thing. However, I kind of agree with you that the line with her is kinda blurry. She's very polarizing within the characteristic of dominating. One minute, she's totally in control of everything and then the next, she's drifting off to the next re-imagining of Madonna. Which makes the dominant-submissive dynamic even more palpable. That's the real oddity of Madonna, isn't it? There were accounts in her early days that she had 'it', that people seeing her walk by would turn their heads just to look at her because she was so sexually appealing. But I've never really believed that. There's never been more than just this whole 'look at how I interpret sex today' thing she's had. True, some of her incarnations have been more interesting than others, but she's always come off to me as a puppet of the image she created. There was never really any 'life' in her, just the odd substitution of sex for passion or the essence of life. So, while she's never been truly sexy, nor truly ugly (okay, debatable), she's an odd chimera, a socially acceptable freakshow that we can all relate to because, hey, we all have sex, right?

Can I just say I would love to have her arms without having the scrawny, drawn bitch-face that comes with it?

I also believe that her sexuality has been oveshadowed by her acute self-awareness. It's like she's always got one eye on the mirror in her head gauging how her image is going over, what kind of reaction she's getting, how this works for her. The gears are always turning in her head and sexiness suffers as a result. She's too busy performing "sexy" to be sexy if that makes sense.

Totally agree on the "she's just not sexy" thing. It IS rather odd, considering this is a woman whose entire career has been based on pushing sexual boundaries. She's made some very interesting choices, and I have to give her a lot of props for what she's done, but I haven't liked anything she's put out in over 10 years, and at a movie I saw Saturday night they played her "Hung Up" video, and it was just SO ick and overdone. Plus, she has whipped her body into such a freakish state for her age, it's almost as if it's (her body, that is) saying "NO, NO, I REVOLT!!" and the natural progression of fat and aging are seeping out in the weirdest areas. NOT SEXY.

You can really see all the surgery she's had from that angle. That woman is tight.

Wow...those...cheekbones. I thought they only were prominent when you smile. One of the implants is bigger and/or higher than the other. It goes to show that even the best plastic surgeons that money can buy sometimes botch those surgeries.

Wow...those...cheekbones. I thought they only were prominent when you smile. One of the implants is bigger and/or higher than the other. It goes to show that even the best plastic surgeons that money can buy sometimes botch those surgeries. I noticed the cheeks in the earlier post with the candids of Madonna leaving a Kabbala center service in NYC last weekend; she's looking down, has no makeup(apparently)--and her cheekbones jut out so bizarrely...my god. They really looked out of place on her otherwise normally shaped face, it was just so obvious....I mean, Mariel Hemingway doesn't have bone structure that severe at her age! Nor would any other person with naturally high cheekbones-it's simply not found in nature. I found myself staring at them in sick fascination. What a profound boo-boo. They should have either never been done or been half as big as they were. I don't suppose there's any way to replace them now, is there? Because it's just got to look worse as time marches on. Edited to add: here's the picture I was talking about
