I really do think this book has been sanctioned by Madonna. She needs a bit of publicity, wants to be "scandalous" again, so gets her brother to write a book about all her "secrets" - except there's nothing really new or scandalous in there at all. Meanwhile, people are encouraged to feel sorry for Madonna as her brother's betrayed her. Then, in a few months time, she forgives him and welcomes him back into her life and she gets to be Saint Madonna. She's so transparent and predictable nowadays.

've been thinking the same thing as Georgia. The woman's loaded. She could've helped out David's father financially and if she felt she absolutely had to adopt a child, found an orphan in a country with looser adoption laws.

I think the Madonna/David Banda case has really highlighted a lot of the problems with how adoption is viewed. People seem to have this really romanticized view of rescuing orphans, but the reality is not so simple as that. Most children who are adopted have living biological relatives and being unable to provide for the child financially is one of the most common reasons for a parent to give up a child. The idea that a person who has adopted a child should simply have offered money to the biological parent instead is pretty insulting to adoptive parents, IMO.

Angelina seems to find them with no trouble.

Well, there was certainly trouble around Maddox's adoption, seeing as the woman who arranged and received money for (I hate the term 'bought' when describing adopting children - yes, all adoptions cost money) was later arrested. Considering the circumstances, it's unlikely Maddox is an orphan.

Excellent point. Why now and not at the peak of her fame when the media just couldn't ignore her?

I'm on the fence about this part. Does she really want to encourage her status as a victim? Never in her career has she before and I think it would be odd if she started now.

I think it would make her look more the saint (while still being Madonna) if she didn't act all indignant about the business. Maybe a little "I've changed a lot, I've learned a lot, I'm more spiritual these days!" for good measure.

Hell, I don't even think she's playing the 'divorce' rumors for sympathy. I think it's more of a 'trading up' sort of deal. You know, the way she works with hot producers and hot recording artists, as a way of saying, "Look at me! I can adapt! I'm relevant!"

Although, she's increasingly reminding me these day's of AbFab's Patsy. Were my photoshop skills a thing to be reckoned with, I'd PS her with the signature beehive, just for laughs.

Not to veer too far from the adoption or new book coming out, but I feel like such a bad person for wanting her to get divorced. I just don't want her to be happy. I want her to die old and alone because I think she's abused a lot of people in her life. She has always seemed hardened, but I think there is also a cruelty and meanness about her. If the story about her giving Guy Ritchie a dildo or whatever at his birthday dinner is true, she was just trying to be mean. I don't buy the line she always gave about wanting to "push people's buttons," or "push the limit" or just plain old challenge people's thinking.

I think she just plain old likes to hurt and upset people so she can feed off of their feelings like a vampire. I don't think she EVER enjoyed pushing the limits per se. If her actions changed people's thinking that was all well and good, but she just liked hurting people. I mean really, how long have they been married? How SHOCKED or CHALLENGED could he really be any more? And does he have any buttons left to be pushed? What the hell was the point of doing that? It was to hurt him and put him in his place.

20+ years ago when the Penthouse pictures came out, I think she felt exposed and hurt by it but realized that shocking things get people's attention and she never forgot it. I think she wanted more attention later on and decided to use the same ploy of shocking people, but then she wasn't just shocking them, she was upsetting people and I think there was something addictive about it to her, a power thing. There is nothing to like about her.

She tried very very hard to make people think that her sexuality was special, liberated, and really, really, out there. Well, sexuality isn't something that needs to be proved. It's part of life experience, not a show or circus. And if it's real to you, then there's nothing to prove. Back in my teens I thought she was the freakiest, scariest woman on the planet and really knew how to live. She was supposedly helping women empower themselves sexually. Well, not really. She was feeding herself and her need for attention. That's all. She probably wasn't freaky, scary and "out there" all that much. She was probably a bore in bed. She was an empty, greedy asshole, and apparently still is, except now she's trying to indoctrinate people who are in need with her cult/religion stuff. Seems evil to do that. How low can she go. She thinks she knows so much. I'm soooo dsappointed the divorce isn't happening.

I also think Madonna approved the book. She is another one desperate to keep her name in the press. Having a happy marriage and living abroad wasnt getting her in the press. Her last tour was successful, but she hasnt been dominating press coverage like she has. Some divorce rumors and a scandalous book and all the sudden everyone is talking about her again.

Well said. Her life seems so sad. She has money, power, success but she doesn't seem happy. I don't think she's capable of being happy. She's the type of person who can never have enough. She's a black hole. I don't wish anything bad on anyone, but I wouldn't cry if she ends up more miserable. You reap what you sow.

I always feel sorry for the peripheral characters when these tell-all books come out. There was a blurb about Warren Beatty on imdb, and I just don't think it's necessary to dig up past history.

A year ago she had NOTHING to say about Britney - she totally dismissed her as some nutjob whom she had zero contact with. Now? Madonna needs hype, so why not go to nutjob city and get the queen? TOTAL exploitation of a woman who cannot make rational decisions. I'm surprised Daddy Spears approved it.

I don't for one minute believe the divorce stuff or the A-Rod rumors. Guy is out and about with Rocco in the Yankees clothes. Would he do that if his wife were having an affair with a Yankee? These two are pathetic. I'm kind of hoping their kids get disgusted with the famewhoring and run off to be accountants or something.
