I feel like the Madonna situation is different because she took a child from the Third World when she knew his father was alive and wanted him. Instead of building a school to proselytize her cult she could have helped him out or even employed him there. I just think this adds a taint to his adoption. Yes, I am sure it happens all the time but she is supposedly trying to save the whole country not just build her family. I honestly thought David Banda's father didn't really want to take care of his son but was caught in the middle of a situation that received world-wide attention and was fed words by the officials who opposed granting Madonna the adoption. Madonna could have helped him by employing him somewhere, though she wasn't obliged to, but we don't know if: 1) she tried 2) maybe the guy simply wanted money and if she gave him money I doubt she would have wanted the world to know for fear of being accused of paying him off. And no, I don't agree that adoptive parents should help biological ones to raise the kids they picked for adoption, be it celebrities or not, because that defies the whole concept of adopting someone. But, this whole situation would be a lot simpler, if children had no living parents and of course, if no shady journalists exploited some poor souls to pass off as living parents for yet another salacious headline, because both could happen in the world of celebs. I think, regardless, David is a lot better with Madonna than he would have been in his home country, at least better nourished and that's more important than anything else. I doubt he would have much appreciated the culture of his own country on an empty stomach, if he knew he was given the chance to be adopted by Madonna, and this way he could do whatever he wants with her money, travel there, help the poor, etc.Hopefuly, time and a tell-all book will prove me right. He looks quite peaceful to me in those few pics that I've seen of him. I still hate her for forcing her own cult in Malawai, but as far as missionaries go, she's no different than all the other ones who go to poor countries to alleviate poverty and push their own agendas in the same vein.

That little boy just looks so together and grounded. He looks totally out of place with Madonna and her family who look nervous and undomfortable every time they're together.

It looks like the days are numbered before Lourdes starts raising hell like a good teenager. I think she's a cute girl. I hope she gives Madonna fits.

I think Madonna will probably not mind Lourdes acting up and getting press. She'll vicariously enjoy the secondary attention it will throw on her.

Usually I hate it when relatives or friends write tell-alls, but not with Madonna. I hope her brother makes a fortune.

I think Madonna will probably not mind Lourdes acting up and getting press. She'll vicariously enjoy the secondary attention it will throw on her. I think Madonna will only approve of it if she gets to direct the general theme and execution of Lourdes' rebellion. And Lourdes doesn't seem to be the kind of kid to go for that. I'm sure she can think for herself. The two things I believe with fair certainty about Madonna is that she's a control freak and terribly insecure about herself. If she can't control her daughter, I could see her trying to upstage her. After all, that's what she's done with her husband.

Yeah, I don't think she could handle Lourdes getting more spotlight than her, or rebelling in her own way.

When Lourdes was born, an editorial page cartoon ran in my local paper that showed Madonna lounging by the pool in her pointy metal brassiere and fishnet hose, saying to a Catholic school-clad Lourdes, "Young lady, you're not going out of this house dressed like that!" If the girl wanted to get her mother good, she'd become a nun, or at least get a PhD and stay totally private.

Did anyone read this: LINKContains some details from Christopher's book. I always thought Christopher was a total opportunist/hanger-on but I don't disbelieve what he wrote here. A few things that stood out to me: 1. Choosing Stella McCartney to be her maid of honor, having just made her acquaintance, over more long-term friends - Madonna in a way is a hanger on herself, always seeking to bring into her circle the 'latest' or 'hottest' individuals in the entertainment/fashion world - even with all the Kabbalah she strikes me as being an extremely shallow individual - from the article: 2. Guy Ritchie sounds like an a-hole whom Madge seemed desperate to please (too many examples to quote.) 3. Madge's supposed humble upbringing and "risky foray' onto NYC was a bunch of crap (I may be late to the party not having known this already!): She tries to be this strong, highly-evolved, self-made creative entity, but in reality she is just as week and needy and petty as anyone else you could name. Just 100x more famous.

Well I, for one, am surprised to learn that Madonna's fabled hard luck early years in NYC were a complete fabrication. I believed the story about her arriving in Times Square with $20 and a dream.
