On one hand, I miss snarking on this strip, but on the other hand-I was at the comics curmudgeon site the other day looking through the archives and I came apon a bunch of old FOOB strips where John tells Liz what a horrible person Paul is because he wasn't there for her after she almost got raped, and Anthony is so perfect because he was. Instantly I got pissed off and was yelling at the computer, "The reason Paul's not there for Liz at this exact moment is because he is busy *moving from his hometown and giving up his job to come to Ontario to live with Elizabeth!* Damn, you judgemental Pattersons suck!"

It's probably better for everybody's blood pressure that Lynn's gone back to dull strips about housetraining Farley.

Know what you mean. I was unpacking some Christmas things and had something wrapped with the Sunday comics from 2004. It showed the entire Patterson clan together, everyone happy, Jim and Iris in great health, and April included in the family. Such a contrast to the last year, when everyone was sitting off in different areas and all the family was ridiculing Mira for saying a blessing.

Lynn lost it all; too bad she didn't give it up before she destroyed the characters.

I don't get why Deanna would pitch such a fit about an old shirt anyway. If it's a paint shirt, isn't it logical that it would get paint on it? Gah, what bad storytelling. There are hundreds of ways Lynn could have shown little Mike and little Dee interacting in elementary school. How old is Mike here anyway? Five? Do five-year-olds actually get starry-eyed crushes?

Dug up this thread because I had a dream the other night that, right after Liz's big wedding, April decided she was going to get married, and Elly was mad because she didn't want to bother with a wedding for April, so all she did was buy a bunch of cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets from McDonald's for the guests to eat at the wedding. Yes, my dreams are insane. But it made me laugh because this is probably what would really happen if the Creature got married.

Well, they could have that stupid wedding cake made of McNuggets, like they have in the current McNuggnuts commercial. Mmm yummy, cold, congealed nugget cake....

Did Mike really meet Deanna in grade school, or is Lyn re-writing history?

Nope - they met in elementary school and then she moved away, only to be run into quite literally so she and Mikerobe could meet again and fall in love.

Who's April? I don't recall ever seeing anybody named April in the strip.

My local paper is still showing this POS new-run BS. Of course, it's one of those papers where they wouldn't dare replace one strip with another. The people who are afraid of change would freak out.

Almost. She was in a car accident, Mike and Weed were passing by and photographed it for the newspaper.
