Did Dee hit her head in that accident? 'Cause that would explain a lot...

I don't think that there's been any doubt about Lynn's views on women and the women's movement but Thursday's strip makes it pretty clear. Because feminists don't care about the raising of babies.

And because the raising of babies and raising of consciousness are incompatible.

I don't think that there's been any doubt about Lynn's views on women and the women's movement but Thursday's strip makes it pretty clear. Because feminists don't care about the raising of babies. I guess that makes Elly and Connie feminists then since they don't seem to care much about the raising of their kids either. For some reason I still follow this strip even though it's mostly reruns, but only worse since she keeps jumping around all the time, and the stuff she is reprinting seems really dated now like Connie wanting to land any man that she can or what a tough life Elly leads having to be a stay at home mom all day with two wild kids and a clueless husband. There's not much snark to be mined from the reruns, but here's just some of the mistakes that I've caught this year. - This is technically not a mistake I guess, but I'm still trying to figure out how snarl and sympathy are related enough to make a pun out of them. She's written some really bad puns that weren't really puns at all, but this might be the worst. - Wierd is apparently the official Canadian spelling of weird. (I didn't catch this one until I visited Foobiverse since I usually read the strip at Yahoo!.) -She reran the strip of Elizabeth putting the potty/pottie on her head just a short time after rerunning it a few months before. The only difference was that she spelled potty/pottie differently in both. February 13th 2008February 6th, 2009-Just like the Cranes turning into Crows, Fred is now Frank.

Okay, thanks alot guys for reviving this thread and posting a link to the foob site. I clicked on Coffee Talk to see if the fans were still fawning over how Lynn "must be looking into their windows because it's just like their lives!" Some are.
Apparently, "Elly" posts a monthly letter. They're written as if the current-strip Elly (the young mom) are writing them. Apparently, young Elly was not the cute, snarky mom of two little kids I remember from way back, but a bitter, ungrateful hag-in-training. Here's an excerpt: "Hi all! I hope you had a good Valentine’s Day. I’m still a bit puzzled about mine. John had been hinting all week that he had a special gift for me, something really fun and unusual. But when the day came, he brought me a dozen red roses. I love roses, but they aren’t exactly unusual. I can’t help wondering what the “special gift” was. He must have changed his mind about giving it to me. Maybe someone persuaded him it wasn’t a good idea? I guess I’ll never know! Michael also talked him into buying a candy bouquet, even though I had firmly vetoed chocolates. John’s excuse was that these were lollipops, not chocolate. I couldn’t resist eating one (OK, two) and am now feeling even fatter than I did after Christmas."
Ungrateful bitch. I have never received roses, ever. How I would love to be able to dismiss a gift of roses as mundane. Plus, her young son apparently thought to get her something, too. What did Elly get them for Valentine's Day? Nothing? Of course not; I'm sure she's one of those women who think Valentines is only about what she can get.
(I know that John was going to get her something stupid, I forget what, but whatever. He got her roses and candy. Shut up, hag.)

Haven't stopped by here in a long time. I see Lynn still hasn't gotten therapy. What an obnoxious "letter"! I used to love this strip but Lynn's bitterness has totally ruined it. Kind of like what George Lucas did to Star Wars by making the prequels.

My local paper dropped zombie-FOOB for " Shoe"! WTF? They also added "Wizard of Id", just in case readers would be scared off by a strip that is less than 40 years old. I still follow Elly and her martyrdom occasionally on-line. It's really impressive just how revealing her choice of strips is, though anyone who survived the FOOBocalypse of last year shouldn't be surprised that she is still working out her own issues through her comic. For example, [blue]today's[/blue] strip is yet another arrow fired at her ungrateful children.

I don't remember if I posted about this in this thread or not, but In June I attended a taping of The Hour (with George Strombonopolous - wooooooooo!). Lynn Johnston was one of the guests. Nothing too earth-shattering, she was just promoting the children's book about Farley, but still.

I saw this thread come up and got all excited. I thought Lynn might be coming out of retirement or something. I miss our daily snark fests. But cool for you to see George, Lixxie.
