Meh. Someone needs to take one for the team and go to the midnight screening. I vote you. You still got an hour and a half left.

You know, I was up at the outdoor mall close to my house tonight and walked by the movie theater. I expected to see TwiHards and TwiMoms camped out and throwing a big dance party or whatever the hell they do at these midnight releases. Nada. I did not see anyone dressed up or wearing Twilight shirts or anything. I admit, I was a little disappointed.

Aw, man. That's super disappointing. Maybe they're still reeling from KStew cheating on RPattz.

BD 2 Spoiler That actually sounds pretty cool. Can I sit through 2 hours of shmoopiness to get to the one awesome scene that they had to add because the book was devoid of any sort of action/conflict?

Ugh, it was terrible... but I don't know what I was expecting. I've seen all the movies in the theater and I never remember how bad the previous one was until I am watching the newest one. Then I get the giggles. I don't know how the actors keep a straight face, honestly. The spoilers were correct about the ending, I seriously thought some people in the audience were going to have a heart attack over it! I really feel like these folks have never seen an actual movie before- I mean, they couldn't have if they have this much of an over-reaction to this Twilight tripe, right? And god, I hate Bella and Edward so, so much. The only character I like at all is Bella's dad. He should get his own movie.

I was listening to a radio show this morning and the hosts interviewed one of their interns, who was a huge Twihard and went to the midnight showing last night. She just about completely lost her shit on the air. She said that she was up all night crying from the emotion of the series finally being over. She was going on about what a huge influence the series is on her life and I was like, wow. WOW.

Well, Lord knows I like plenty of questionable things......but it seemed like that sort of over the top reaction is not healthy. I remember being kinda blue about Harry Potter being over. Just staying up and crying all night over Twilight, I could not help thinking if this were my daughter, I would start talking to her about maybe picking up some hobbies.
I read the book series when I was thirty. My friend had been bugging me forever to read Twilight and I finally caved to see the fuss. Harry Potter was over, and I had a brand new baby at home--so I had time. 1.0 was taking art lessons and I remember sitting on the front porch of the shop with 2.0 asleep in her carrier and reading Twilight. I liked the premise, I thought it was interesting. But with each book, I liked Bella less and less. There was no character development and the heart of the love story was incredibly shallow. Bella loved Edward because he was hot and Edward loved Bella because her mind was quiet (insert joke) and she smelled good. And that was it. By Breaking Dawn, it was like, what is this fuckery?
So I am thinking that I am too old to get it. But those gals at the premiere holding up signs look older than me! And my blog friend just posted that BD2 is the best movie that she has ever seen. I don't think that every movie should be deep and meaningful, but I can't help but think that they should be better than this.
