The HBO/Alan Ball vampire series starring Anna Paquin (sp?) that debuted tonight. I've heard mixed things from critics thus far, but I really enjoyed it! It needs a lot of tweaking, but Six Feet Under also needed a lot of time to develop it's tone, if I'm remembering correctly. I think the women are all terrific, the men... well, they need some work. Anyone else watch tonight?

Anyone else watch tonight? I did. Not sure what I thought. The two leads had great chemistry, but "Bill" isn't sexy enough to really pull me in. Maybe he'll improve. That girl playing Tara. HORRIBLE. Her voice almost sent me into seizures. She must go. The porn. Totally unnecessary. I was actually uncomfortable watching and I was alone. I'll stick with it cause I'm a vampire nut, but I hope it improves. A lot.

. Heh--I know her. She's Juilliard trained, FWIW! I didn't mind the graphic sex, thought it went with the whole feel of the show, if that makes sense. I thought the worst actor award went to the bar guy. And the brother is pretty bad too--although he has an amazing body.

I watched the show. I liked it, but like you all I feel it needs some improvement. I didn't like the girl playing Tara, the character was unbelievable and I am surprised and offended that they are still pulling out the eye-rolling, finger snapping angry black woman stereotype. And the gay do-rag wearing black guy wasn't any better. The lead girl, Suki, was a bit too smiley and wide eyed, I'm hoping that changes if (when?) she gets bitten.

Ugh--Jacob's recapping it over at TWOP. I made it about 2 paragraphs--he's such an unintelligible douche.

I'm a big fan of the books so I enjoyed the final pilot (the rough-cut was ugh). While the pilot was a bit choppy and had a lot of ground to cover, I think the series will find its footing as it progresses. I was shocked to see Anna Paquin as Sookie, though. She was not what I had in mind while reading the books!

I don't have HBO, but I want to see this so bad! I guess I'll have to wait for the DVDs. (The eps abigail posted won't play for me - Safari says it won't open them and every time I try to view them using Windows Media Player it locks up. Life sucks! Are shows like this ever available on iTunes?)
